Please do expect some bumpy ride as some of the parts of road is under construction.

There will be lots of green paddy fields with terrace fields full of different crops such as rice, wheat, potatoes, corn etc. We will also see a typical Nepalese villages made from rock and mud and many cattles such as cows and goats and other domestic animals like chickens, ducks in most of the households in rural areas. We will be hearing a chirping of different varieties of birds such as fantail, sunbird, nightangle, swift and pheasants which are common habitat in this area. Crossing long suspension bridges multiple times along the deep hills during a walk is something unique experience.

Trek to Mundu

Langtang Valley - The trail continues to climb through forest, with occasional glimpses of Mount Langtang Lirung on a distance. At Ghoda Tabela (3,000m / 9,842ft), the trail emerges from the forest and the mountains loom on either side of the valley. The trail continues to climb gently and the valley widens, passing a few temporary settlements used by herders who bring their livestock to graze in the high pastures during the summer. You will probably glimpse your first yak if you haven’t already. The next part of the trail is a somber reminder of the 2015 earthquake. Where Langtang village once was, with numerous lodges, there is now only a huge rock field. Spare a thought for the Nepalis and tourists who lost their lives here, and remember that your journey here will help support the survivors. Mundu is just half an hour’s walk further on. The old houses here are a reminder of what all the villages once looked like in this valley.

Trek to Kyanjin Gumpa

Kyanjin Gompa - From Mundu, the trail climbs gradually through yak pastures as the valley opens out further and the views become more extensive. After crossing several small streams and moraines, the trail reaches the settlement at Kyangjin Gumpa. Here there is a small monastery and a government-operated cheese factory, which is a good place to stock up for lunch and afternoon snacks. As you will arrive by lunchtime there is time to take it easy in the afternoon or explore the area. If you are feeling energetic, head up the Valley towards Langshisha Kharka to see some of the amazing views.

Kyanjin Gompa - We will visit a beautiful Kyanjin Gompa village with an exploration to many attractions such as local Yak cheese factory, local Buddhist monastary, and visit towards lower Kyanjin Ri for acclimitasion hike.

Exploration day at Kyanjin Ri and rest day

Kyanjin Ri - We will be doing a 2 hours hike early morning for a sunrise view over Langtang range. We will be walking slowly over 4,400m elevation in a steep ridges. Even though it is a challenging walk uphill, the view from the upper Kyanjin Ri is worth the hike. The closer and the magnificent panoramic view of Langtang Lirung and many mountains on Tibetan sides too. The glaciers can be seen so clear and closer frok Kyanjin Ri and there is some chances to see small glacier avalanches if you are lucky. While descending, you might also encounter some wildlife such as mountain goats (bluesheep and Himalayan Thar) and herds of Yaks.

Trek back to Lama Hotel from Kyanjin Gompa

Lama Hotel - We will return back from the same route you followed up the valley, following the Langtang river to Mundu village and on to Ghora Tabela.
