Drive to Syabru Bensi (1462m/4796ft) by bus 7 Hrs drive
Thulo Syabru - The trek to Langtang Valley begins with a bus or jeep ride from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. This 6 to 8-hour journey includes many off-road segments, but the stunning mountain views, lush greenery, and quick stops for interactions and food at local sites make it a memorable experience. You’ll see the raging Trisuli River, terraced farmlands, and glimpses of Ganesh Himal. As you cross Dhunche, the city surroundings gradually transform into a village and remote atmosphere. Upon reaching Syabrubesi, freshen up at a local lodge and explore the area, enjoying local bakery treats, cheese items, and perhaps a cup of tea or coffee. Overnight stay at a local lodge in Syabrubesi.
Trek to Lama Hotel (2500m/8202ft) 5 Hrs
Langtang National Park - Today marks the start of the trekking activity. After an early morning breakfast, prepare for a day’s walk. The trek begins by crossing the Bhote Koshi River and Langtang Khola, with a gradual ascent to a site called Bamboo. Be cautious while crossing landslide-prone areas. Most lunch sites are riverside; you’ll have lunch at Ramche before continuing to Lama Hotel. This trek offers a wonderful opportunity to spot rare flora and fauna, including the possibility of seeing red pandas and langur monkeys.
Trek to Mundu (3430m/11253ft) 5 Hrs
Langtang National Park - The route passes through the area most affected by the 2015 earthquake. The entire Langtang Village was destroyed, but it has since been reconstructed, and tea houses are operational. Stay at Langtang Village and take an extra step to walk a little further to Mundu Village, where you’ll stop for the day. Enjoy views of mani stone walls and excellent vistas of Langtang Lirung, Changbu, and Kinshung peaks. The views from Mundu are even more spectacular than those from Langtang Village.
Trek to Kyangjin Gompa (3798m / 12460ft) 2 Hrs
Kyanjin Gompa - Leaving Mundu behind, continue to Kyangjin Gompa. The walk from Mundu to Kyangjin Gompa is a 2-hour gradual ascent through beautiful grazing lands, crossing small river streams over wooden bridges. There used to be a cheese factory here, now not in operation, and a famous monastery under reconstruction. Depending on your physical fitness, capability, and interest, you can hike from Mundu to Kyangjin Ri (4300m/14107ft) and return to Kyangjin Gompa today. Alternatively, arrive at Kyangjin Gompa today and plan for a Kyangjin Ri or Cherkuri hike the next day. Overnight stay at a local lodge in Kyangjin Gompa.
Trek back to Lama Hotel (2500m/8202ft) 5-6 hrs
Langtang National Park - After enjoying the Himalayan settings and surroundings, begin the descent via the same route. Although it’s the same trail, the change in direction offers a different perspective on the landscape, cultural settings, and more. Cross Ghodatablea and walk along the riverside of Langtang Khola, finally arriving at a tea house in Lama Hotel for an overnight stay.
Trek to Syabru Bensi (1462m/4796ft)
Thulo Syabru - Every beginning has its end. Today marks the last walking day in the Langtang Valley Trek. From Lama Hotel, pass through the culturally rich Sherpa village of Sherpagaun. The views become greener, with wide valleys, more local settlements, and opportunities to explore the Tamang ethnic group. Along the Langtang trekking trail, the western route leads to the Tamang Heritage Trail to Gatlang, while the eastern route crossing the Laurebina Pass leads to the pilgrimage site of Gosaikunda. Considering these options to extend the trek for a few extra days, a 7-8 hour drive to Kathmandu tomorrow completes the standard 11-day Langtang Valley trek.
Drive back to Kathmandu
Kathmandu - Today, take a morning drive from Syabrubesi to Kathmandu, concluding the Langtang trekking adventure. Upon arrival in Kathmandu after a 7-8 hour drive, our office representative will assist you with hotel check-in. Enjoy free time for the rest of the day.
