Kathmandu - After breakfast in the morning, join the other groups for a briefing on the Island Peak Climb and Trekking. Our guide will provide you with important and useful information regarding the trek/climb and your stay in Nepal with us.
Following the briefing, depart from the hotel for an exciting tour around Kathmandu, visiting places of great interest. The city and its valley are rich with historical and religious monuments, temples, and monasteries, many of which are listed as World Heritage Sites.
After an interesting tour, the afternoon is free for you to relax and prepare for the Island Peak Climb and Everest Base Camp trekking.
Briefing: Later in the afternoon, the entire group will be briefed about the trekking. We will check all the equipment for the trek. If anything is not suitable, we can provide, rent, or help you purchase it here.
Once all the equipment is checked and we are sure you are well-prepared, we will have a welcome dinner with the entire group.
Flight to Lukla (2828m/9279ft) 35m and trek to Phakding (2780m/9121ft) 3-4 hrs walk
Flights to Lukla - Start early in the morning with a transfer to the domestic airport for a short and scenic flight to Lukla. The flight, on a smaller aircraft (Twin Otter or Dornier), lasts 30 minutes and offers amazing panoramas of the Himalayan peaks, including Mt. Everest, as the plane lands on the unique uphill runway at Tenzing & Hillary Airport in Lukla.
From here, begin with a slow start, walking downhill for a few hours past many Sherpa farm villages with well-tended crops and vegetable fields and terraces, with occasional views of the snowcapped peaks of Kwangde and Kusum Khanguru. Then, reach our first overnight stop of the trek at Phakding, in the comfort of a nice and cozy lodge located by the raging Dudh Kosi River.
Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m/11287ft) 5-6 hrs walk
Namche Bazaar - Today involves a long uphill walk to reach the famous Namche Bazaar, starting with a gradual walk following the Dudh Kosi River upstream, crossing a few bridges to reach the Sagarmatha National Park entrance near Monjo village.
Sagarmatha is the Nepalese name for Everest, while the Sherpa call it Chomolungma (of Tibetan origin), both meaning ‘Great Mother’. From here, enjoy a pleasant walk along the riverbed, then climb for a few hours into a forested trail with views of snow-capped peaks, as this scenic walk brings you to the exciting Namche Bazaar.
Rest acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar
Everest View Point - A rest day at Namche Bazaar is necessary for acclimatization before heading to higher areas. It is an ideal spot for a free day at this height above 3,440 m.
In Namche, spend the day with a scenic hike to viewpoints on top of Namche, facing Mt. Everest, Amadablam, and other peaks. In the afternoon, explore the streets and shops. Namche hosts a colorful and busy Saturday Market once a week.
Trek to Tengboche (3850m/12632ft) 4-5 hrs walk
Tengboche Gompa - From Namche, the walk leads on a gradual scenic path with a downhill to the Imjatse River at Phunge-Tenga for lunch. In the afternoon, climb uphill into a forest of rhododendron, pines, and fir, with grand views of snowcapped peaks.
After a few hours of climbing/walking uphill, reach Tengboche Monastery. Enjoy marvelous views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Kangtenga, Thamasarku, Kwande, and the magnificent Amadablam. In the afternoon, take time to visit the interesting monastery and observe monks and priests in prayer. Stay overnight in Tengboche.
Trek to Pheriche (4280m/14042ft) 4-5 hrs walk
Mt. Ama Dablam - From Pheriche, enjoy a superb panorama of mountains, then head downhill through lush and green woodland to reach a metal bridge over the Imjatse River. From here, climb uphill to Pangboche, the last permanent Sherpa farm village before Island Peak and Everest Base Camp. The walk leads to Somare for lunch, with superb views of Amadablam at close distance, and then continues on a gradual path with a short climb to reach Pheriche, a windy valley for an overnight stop.
Rest day at Pheriche for acclimatization and excursion.
Dingboche - Pheriche is located above 4,240 m within a beautiful valley with views of Amadablam, including Lhotse and the stunning Taboche and Cholatse peaks. Pheriche has many good lodges, and you can visit the HRA (Himalayan Rescue Association) office with a small medical post.
Trek to Lobuche (4910m/16109ft) 4-5 hrs walk
Lobuche - Leaving Pheriche, walk to the valley end, then take a short climb to a ridge to reach Thugla (Dugla). Here, the trail from Pheriche Valley and Dingboche joins towards Everest Base Camp.
From Thugla, enjoy stunning views of Taboche, Cholatse, Lobuche, Pumori, and Amadablam. After a lunch break and rest, the climb leads up to the terminal debris of Khumbu Glacier, passing many memorials of unfortunate climbers who died on the mountains of Khumbu. From here, continue walking to Lobuche for an overnight stop.
Trek to Gorakshep (5180m/16995ft) 3-4 hrs walk and Everest Base Camp (5364m/17600ft) 2-3 hrs walk
Mount Everest - Today, the adventure takes you to Everest Base Camp, the main goal and highlight of the trip. Walk for a few hours with a short steep climb between the glacier and moraine, then reach Gorakshep, beneath the lofty peak of Pumori and Kalapathar rocky hill.
Continue walking towards Everest Base Camp. At the base camp, enjoy views of the massive Khumbu Ice Fall and glaciers. After an exciting time and a lifetime experience, retrace the journey back to Gorakshep for an overnight stop.
Trek to Kala Patthar (5545m/18193ft) 2-3 hrs walk and Trek to Dingboche (4350m/14272ft) 5-6 hrs walk
Kala Patthar - Early morning, climb to the top of Kalapathar at above 5,545 m, the highest point on the trek, with magnificent views of mountains, including Mt. Everest at close distance. After a great time on top, descend back to Gorakshep for breakfast and continue walking to Thugla. From here, descend to the Imjatse Valley with a nice scenic walk towards Dingboche, in the comfort of a nice cozy lodge for an overnight stay.
Trek to Chhukung (4,730 m/15518ft) about 04 hrs walk
Chukhung - After an early morning breakfast, head uphill to the Imjatse Valley with a nice scenic walk towards the last human settlement at Chhukung, in the comfort of a nice cozy lodge before Island Peak Base Camp. In the afternoon, after lunch, you can take a day hike up to Chhukung Peak, from where you can see a magnificent panoramic view of snow mountains.
Island Peak Base Camp (4970m/16305ft) about 04 hrs walk
Imja Tse - After a wonderful stop in a cozy lodge at Chhukung, today onward, spend a few days in tents camping until the climb is done. The morning walk leads to our main highlight and goal, Island Peak Base Camp, located in a scenic spot at Parshya Gab. Here, set up our camps with the afternoon free to practice climbing with our expert guide.
Trek Island Peak High / Advance Camp (5,400 m/17716 ft) 04 hrs walk.
Imja Tse - The real thrill and adventure start as you head higher to establish a high or advance camp above 5,400 m, making the climb more accessible and shorter. In the morning, leave the base camp towards high camp, climbing above the moraine towards an open gully, located between two well-defined ridges, to reach the high camp beneath a small hanging glacier above 5,400 m.
Here, take time in the afternoon for final preparations for the big climb the next early morning.
Island Peak Summit (6,189 m/20305ft) back to base camp and trek to Chhukung (4,730 m/15518ft) about 9 hrs walk
Chukhung - Start very early before dawn, where the climb begins to reach the top of Island Peak above 6,160 m / 20,328 ft high with a PD + grade, as taken from the French and Swiss Alpine Climbing System. Our guide leads you across a broad open gully, following a snow-covered glacier, avoiding seracs and crevasses, climbing northwards over snow-covered scree in the margin between glaciers facing a top ridge.
The climb continues, crossing a gully with some stone and icefall danger. A steep snow and ice ramp leads you above 100 meters high (300 ft) to reach its main summit. This strenuous climb takes you to the top, our final and major highlight of the adventure.
Enjoy the views and success of a lifetime experience as your great dreams are accomplished with a successful climb, facing an awesome panorama of giant peaks, including Mt. Everest 8,848 m, Lhotse 8,501 m, Mt. Amadablam 6,856 m, Mt. Makalu 8,463 m, Chamlang, and Baruntse peaks. After a great climb, feeling in high spirits, descend safely on the same route.
Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m/11287ft) about 6 hrs walk
Namche Bazaar - After getting organized, our return route leads towards the Imjatse Valley with scenic views as the walk proceeds towards Dingboche to reach Tengboche for a lunch break.
From Tengboche, walk downhill with a short ascent to reach Namche Bazaar, with grand views of Everest and Amadablam, including other close peaks. Then, reach Namche for an overnight stop after a pleasant walk of short ups and downs.
Trek to Lukla (2828m/9279ft) about 6 hrs walk
Lukla - Our last day of walking on this great adventure begins with a long descent towards the Sagarmatha National Park entrance at Monjo village, then crossing a long bridge to reach Phakding.
From Phakding, head towards Lukla as the walk leads up and downhill, with a final climb of an hour to reach Lukla for the last overnight stop in the Khumbu and Everest region.
Fly Lukla to Kathmandu (1350m/4430ft)
Kathmandu - From Lukla, take an early morning flight to Kathmandu, enjoying panoramic mountain views all the way. At Kathmandu’s domestic airport, our staff will transfer you back to your hotel, with a free afternoon to relax after a great and wonderful time on the Everest Base Camp Trekking.

Kathmandu - Today is a free day in Kathmandu, reserved as an extra day in case of flight delays or cancellations in Lukla due to unfavorable weather conditions, which can sometimes occur as Himalayan weather can be unpredictable.
If all goes well as per our guideline set itinerary, you can enjoy this day relaxing or with individual extra activities, or book another exciting tour around Kathmandu at places of great interest.
Final International departure from Nepal.
Kathmandu - On your last day in Nepal, the country of Himalayan wonders, depart for homeward bound or to your next respective connecting destinations, as per your international flight time. Our staff or guide will transfer you to Kathmandu airport after a mesmerizing memory and great adventure on the Island Peak Climb with Everest Base Camp Trekking.
