Trekking to Everest Base Camp is one of the most popular activities among people who visit Nepal for a holiday. A breath-taking flight to Lukla airport, stunning Himalayan scenery, the world’s biggest desert-like glaciers, high thrilling trekking passes and warm, hospitable Sherpa culture together with hundreds of years old monasteries are main attractions of Everest Base Camp Trekking.
The trek starts after an adventurous and thrilling flight to Lukla. The flight itself gives an impressive impression of great mountain views (and heart-stopping approach and landing !) and the trek will take you through wide areas of stunning landscapes, ethnic settlements, years old Buddhist monasteries at Monjo, Namche, Tengboche and Panboche, and ultimately to the midst of towering peaks.
This is moderate to difficult level trekking suitable for people above average fitness level. Anyone who is able to walk about 6 - 7 hours each day is open to join this hike.

Lok is the guide you need ! - Me and my friend had an amazing experience with the company. Flights were easy, food and accommodation included, inclusive walking pace and a great guide. Lok is the man! Can’t thank him enough. Would recommend booking through Himalayan Leisure.

Amazing EBC trek with Lok - Had an amazing time on our Everest Base Camp trek! Our guide, Lok, took care of every detail and made sure we had everything we needed. He knew the route like the back of his hand and had us on the perfect pace for the entire trek.
We had debated about hiring a guide as we are experienced backpackers and thought it might not be necessary. But after experiencing the trek with a guide, I 100% recommend this is the way to go.
Amazing adventure of a lifetime!

10/10 experience from start to finish! - In short, nothing could top this. From Upendra at Himalayan Leisure being so helpful beforehand to our guide, Khila, giving us 12 unforgettable days.
Our guide was Khila – truly the best guide we have ever had. More on this below.
Himalayan Leisure were also extremely helpful and flexible when I needed to change my dates, which made everything much easier from the start.
Upendra and Birendra made sure we were prepared fully and answered any questions we had. Would highly recommend organising your trip with them.
Khila, where do I start:
Khila always puts his guests first, he is empathetic and respectful as he showed on the days we were feeling unwell.
Thanks to Khila we could continue on our trek to the very end!
Nothing is too much for Khila, he seems to know everyone on the way and is friends with many guides, porters and accommodation owners/staff.
He is entertaining, teaching us some Nepali and Kirat (his Caste) phrases, showing us every mountain (and height), every animal, and playing cards each evening. The 12 days felt like 3 it was so enjoyable!
His many years experience as a porter and guide give him deep trail knowledge and many local connections.
His English is also excellent which made the trip so easy to navigate, he even knows some Irish now too!!
Have to mention our brilliant porter, Arun too. Couldn’t have done it without his hard work and lovely personality.
If you want your trek to be smooth, meaningful, and unforgettable I highly recommend Khila and the team at Himalayan Leisure!

Amazing Experience - Khila is the best!! - We have just completed the Everest Basecamp trek with Himalayan Leisure. It was all very professional from the beginning, Upendra and Birendra were very helpful and insightful, ensuring we were comfortable with everything before leaving. Our tour was made even more exceptional by our wonderful guide, Khila. He was so knowledgeable, knew every mountain, their height, was great to spot animals, and even taught us some Nepali and Kirati (his native language) which we used often over the 12 days :) He even made an attempt to learn some Irish language from us also! He made sure everything was safe and nothing was ever too much for him, even days when we were not feeling well. I don’t think our experience would have been the same without him, and we are extremely grateful that he was our guide! I must mention our porter Arun was also fantastic and we would have been lost without him :) Would 100% recommend this company for trekking, and would also recommend to ask for Khila for your guide :)

Fantastic EBC/Chola Pass/Goyko lakes trek - Himalayan leisure did a fantastic job organizing the trip. Upendra was accessible for every question before weI left home and every detail was taken care of. Our guide Ossman was amazing, guiding, educating and motivating us every day. He took care of us every step of the way.

Beautiful and worth it - The Everest Base Camp Trek was just wow! It was sometimes challenging but such a rewarding experience. Our guide Hari was super kind and took care of everything from start to finish. The people along the way were so friendly, and the nature was absolutely incredible 😍 After each hike, we could chill in the teahouses, drink tea, and eat tasty dal bhat (or anything else) — it was always the perfect way to end the day. Such an amazing experience 🏔️✨

More than good! Khila - the best guide ever! - Amazing!!!
My guide was Khila - he is the best guide, which I have ever!
In order:
1. Khila cares a lot about your safety.
2. Khila is always polite and attentive. I think, his motto is - "all best for the guest."
3. Khila has an individual approach: if you are not interested in something or don't like something, Khila will offer another option, an alternative.
4. Khila is a real professional! If something doesn't go according to plan, he knows how to improvise in a specific situation (but many guides are not capable of this - they just follow the rules). Khila focuses exactly on you and your well-being, your condition, and his acts based on this. Khila knows the names of all the mountains (he explained me tooooo much), tell me a lot about the culture, about Nepal, about treks.
5. Khila is pleasant to talk. In long evenings, over dinner, you will have something to do and something to talk about.
6. Khila has a lot of experience: he was a porter for many years, and then became a guide. Khila knows the trails very well and has many friends (you can see this for yourself, how many times he greets different people).
7. On my Everest trek, Khila was able to find me individual accommodation in EVERY village (closer to Everest this is very difficult - almost impossible, but he do the best for me).
8. Khila can adapt to any trekker's speed - this is very important!
9. Khila have very good English! No one problems with communication.
10. Khila is very attentive to your wishes (if I asked to start trek earlier, he agreed). Khila is very punctual (he never overslept). When I had difficult acclimatization days, Khila came to me and asked how I was feeling.
So, if you want, that your trekking to be a success, and everything be as pleasant as possible, just remember one name – Khila. He is the one, who will ensure you unforgettable experience.

Definitely Choose Himalayan Leisure - This trek will remain one of the highlights of all of our journeys. From the time Lal picked us up at the airport through our departure, we felt safe, comfortable, and well cared for. Lal is a very experienced guide and he easily adapted to our trekking abilities. He knew how to ensure we were successful encouraging us to eat, drink, and rest in particular ways that gave us a high level of confidence in our day-to-day hikes.
Namraj carried our two bags 70+ miles which was a great benefit as we cycled through hot/cold climates and especially when we had 3 days of rain and needed dry clothes. He was a great asset and we enjoyed seeing him throughout each day … to include when he hiked the 2 hours to Everest Base Camp with us despite dropping our bag and not really needing to go.
I would highly recommend Himalayan Leisure as your choice for an EBC trek. Upendra handles the upfront work extremely well and then Lal/Namraj will take it from there. They are a great team for a memorable experience!

An experience not to be missed. - Our trek to Everest base camp with Lal and Namraj was absolutely amazing! From start to finish Himalayan Leisure delivered. We had personalized service starting with Upendra and finishing with Lal. The whole trek was seamless due to the experience of the team. Lal, our guide, met us at the airport and literally walked us through the adventure, providing guidance to make us successful. He was happy to help in any way possible. He was patient with our endless questions and happy teach us about Nepalese culture or take our picture. He also has eyes like a hawk, able to point out wildlife and safety was a top priority. As a total package, we were in good hands with Lal.
We couldn’t have been successful without Namraj, our porter, who happily carried our stuff up and down the Everest base camp trail too! We read other reviews that you never see your porter, but we had the opportunity to trek and interact with Namraj, which was an added bonus!
Additionally, we happen to be on the trail for my husband’s birthday and Lal and Namraj surprised him (and me) with a delicious cake and scarves as well!!
I highly recommend Himalayan leisure, Lal and Namraj for your next adventure!

Brilliant Experience - The EBC trek was a once in a lifetime experience! Lal our guide was faultless and Pandey our porter was a great laugh. Once we were introduced to Lal he sorted everything out for us, he was very reassuring and knowledgeable as we had many queries. Highly recommend to anyone who appreciates nature at its best and people hunting to challenge themselves and gain that sense of accomplishment.
