ARRIVE PARO BY AIR & TRANSFER TO THIMPHU (55 KMS / 1½ HRS DRIVE)

Paro Airport Bird’s Eye View Point - The flight to Paro is one of the most spectacular in entire Himalayas. Flying along the Himalayan range from Kathmandu, the journey offers fascinating views and an exciting descent into the Kingdom. Bhutan’s first gift, as you disembark from the aircraft will be cool, clean fresh mountain air. After immigration formalities and baggage collection, you will be met by our representative, and afterward drive to Thimphu, the capital town of Bhutan with en-route stop at Chuzom, the confluence of Thimphu and Paro rivers. Three different style of stupas; Tibetan, Nepalese and Bhutanese adorn this confluence. Shortly before reaching Chuzom, you will see on your left TschogangLhakhang, “the temple of the excellent horse”. It is a private temple, built in the 15th century, as the result of visitation from Balaha, the excellent horse, a manifestation of Chenrezig, the compassionate Buddha.

Thimphu - On arrival in Thimphu, check into the hotel. The capital town of Bhutan and the center of Government, religion and commerce, Thimphu is a unique city with unusual mixture of modern development alongside ancient traditions. With a population of about 90,000 it is perhaps still the world’s only capital city without a traffic light.

Bhutan Post Office Headquarters - After lunch, visit to Bhutan Post Office, the Postal Service in Bhutan was first launched on 10th October 1962 with the opening of a post office in Phuentsholing. In the same year, post offices also opened in Paro and Thimphu.

Tashichho Dzong - Evening, visit Trashichhoedzong: This impressive fortress/monastery houses Secretariat building, the throne room of His Majesty, the King and various government offices. It is also the summer residence of Chief Abbot and central monk body.

Thimphu - Evening an exploratory walk around Thimphu Main Street and market area. Also visit the Local Crafts Bazaar, to browse through example of Bhutan’s fine traditional arts. Here you can buy hand-woven textiles, Thangkha paintings, masks, ceramics, slate and wood carvings, jewellery, interesting items made from local materials.

THIMPHU – PUNAKHA (75 KMS / 03 HRS DRIVE)

Dochula Pass - Drive to Punakha across Dochula pass (3O8Om). In Bhutan, the passes are marked by a large Bhutanese Chorten and prayer flag. Dochula pass offers the most spectacular view over the high peaks of the eastern Himalayas on a clear day.

Chimi Lhakhang Temple - Visit Chimi Lhakhang The Chimi Lhakhang, situated on a hillock in the centre of the valley, also known as the temple of fertility. It is widely believed that couples who do not have children and wanting one, if they pray at this temple, they are usually blessed with a child very soon. The trail leads across rice fields to the tiny settlement of Pana, meaning ‘field’. A walk through the village near the temple will give you rare glimpses into the daily life and lifestyle of the villagers

Punakha Dzong - After checking into hotel, proceed to visit Punakha Dzong, a massive structure built at the junction of two rivers. It was the capital of Bhutan until 1955, and still serves as the winter residence of the monk body.

Punakha - Evening can be spent exploring Punakha village located right on the bank of river.

PUNAKHA – PARO (120 KMS / 4½ HRS DRIVE APPROX)

Semtokha Dzong སསམ་སེག་ཡ་རོང་ལོང། - After breakfast, check-out from the hotel and drive to Paro along scenic highway, enroute visit SimtokhaDzong, the oldest fortress of the country built in 1627 which now houses the School for Buddhist studies.

Rinpung Dzong - Rinpung Dzong (ParoDzong), meaning (“fortress of the heap of jewels”), which has a long and fascinating history. Along the wooden galleries lining the inner courtyard are fine wall paintings illustrating Buddhist lore such as four friends, the old man of long life, the wheel of life, scenes from the life of Milarepa, Mount. Sumeru and other cosmic Mandala.

PARO (Hiking to Tiger’s Nest)

Paro Taktsang - After breakfast excursion to Taktshang Monastery or Tiger’s Nest (approx. 5 hours walk): It is one of the most famous of Bhutan’s monasteries, perched on the side of a cliff 900m above the Paro valley floor. It is said that Guru Rinpoche arrived here on the back of a tigress and meditated at this monastery and hence it is called ‘Tiger’s Nest’. This site has been recognised as a most sacred place and visited by ShabdrungNgawangNamgyal in 1646 and now visited by all Bhutanese at least once in their lifetime. On 19 April, 1998, a fire severely damaged the main structure of building but now this Bhutanese jewel has been restored to its original splendour.

Bhutan is indeed a peaceful and proud country. - We took a 9 night/10day tour in december 2023 with Accessible Adventures in Bhutan. Our friends earlier in the year too had used the same travel provider for Bhutan trip. Their feedback was very good. Our experience was excellent too. We went to Thimpu, Paro, Punakha, phobjikha valley. The guide (Mr. Sangya) and our driver (Mr Mindoo) were really good, helpful, accomodating. Bhutan is beautiful. Cleanliness is right up there. I think we will do a summer trip as well to Bhutan. Hotel stays were warm and the staff was very helpful. Bhutan food is free of pesticides and fertilizers and very nice especially for North Indians. Poori Subji/Aaloo Parotha/Jeera Aloo/Daal/MixVeg all of this very nice. The backend office support from Accessible Adventures was very good and prompt. We had to reach them only on the first day and the last day. Only feedback I will give is for the hotel menu. I think this applies to all of Bhutan Hotels. Many from South India will prefer some thing like idli/vada/dosa/sambhar as well. If you can please add this to your menus that will make it even better.

Unforgettable trip to Bhutan ! - We chose accessible adventure for our 9D Bhutan trip after comparing a few other travel agencies and glad we did ! Our coordinator Himal patiently understood all our requirements(there were many) and gave us a tailor made package. Though home stays are not recommended for tourists in bhutan, we insisted on one and the one we stayed in was amazing ! Himal also took great care during the trip and was constantly in touch to understand how the trip was going on. Our guide Sonam was also very helpful and made sure we had a fun vacation

Dream trip to Bhutan - The trip to Bhutan was my dream trip. I had a big expectations and almost all of them were fulfilled. The whole trip plan made by Himal, our coordinator, was interesting, including all the most important temples, museums, tourist attractions. Our guide, Sonam, a nice guy, big knowledge and very helpful. Bhutan is beautiful, calm (comparing to Kathmandu), amazing nature and views. Architecture is different than all I've seen before. Tiger's Nest - the cherry on the top. Little hiking but the veiws were worth it. Beside that, the biggest impression was the Punakha Dzong. I was lucky to visit it while the trees bloomed, milion purple flowers, amazing. Accomodation provided by Himal was excellent, all hotels with big rooms and river view. I loved the food, there were so many dishes, we couldn't eat it all. There is just one minus - I wish I could stay there longer!!!!!!! Amazing experience, I will come back there again one day for sure with Accessible Adventure. They are professional, providing itinerary adjusted to customer's requests, ready do help all day long. I miss Bhutan already!

Amazing experience! - 13 of us went on a Bhutan trip for 9D 8N which was arranged by Accessible Adventure Private Limited. Such an amazing experience it was! First of all thanks to Accessible Adventures for taking care of everything so well. Himal, who was coordinating with us made sure we are having the best time. He was constantly in touch and any issue or feedback was immediately addressed. Thanks to Sonam and the driver for making it a smooth ride. Bhutan is truly a beautiful country! Himal was patient enough to give us an itenerary the way we wanted, hotel recommendations as per our interest. Tiger’s nest trek, Phobjikha valley are must visit places. If you don’t want to visit too many monasteries, you can just keep Punakha Dzong which is very beautiful and colourful. Whole of Bhutan has a artistic touch to it. I would highly suggest planning a trip to Bhutan and through Accessible Adventure.

Awesome trip to Bhutan - Had a great trip to Bhutan which was managed by Accessible Adventure. Himal, our travel coordinator ensured that we had a great holiday in Bhutan. Starting from choosing the right accommodation Himal took care of every need of ours with great passion. He went an extra mile to make sure that we stayed at a home stay in a village near Punakha as per our wish. He would call us daily and take note of things going right and wrong; and he was open enough to correct those things which didnt go well with us. Would like to thank Sonam, our travel guide for patiently taking care of the needs and wants of a big group (13) like ours. Special thanks to our driver who drove the vehicle with so much care throughout the trip. He would arrive on time every day and the vehicle would be super clean before we enter the vehicle. Overall we had a great experience and would recommend the Accessible Adventure Private Limited to others as well. I would definitely not hesitate to contact them for future trips as well.

Amazing experience of bhutan culture and tradition - Accessible adventure made sure we enjoy bhutan at its best..starting with providing a customized package...starting with accommodating requirements of being veg, wanting to stay in a home stay, taste Bhutanese local food ...they took care of all asks...himal ensured he called me each day to check how the day went and any changes we needed for the next day...overall wouldn't think twice going with them again...initially felt a little drift with the guide due to the expectation differences but they were open to listen and after the second day the guide ensured we njoyed our tour to the max...thanks sonam, himal and anyone else who made sure we created memories....special mention to the driver who not only drove well and was on time all days but ensured the car is spec clean anytime of the day ...
