Highlights

Island Peak expedition (6189m) in Everest region is among very famous mountaineering expeditions in Nepal. Although Nepal is home to 8 out of 14 highest peaks in world going over 8,000 meters, numerous other mountains in the Himalayan region draw a large number of climbers every year because climbing them is equally demanding, and equally adventurous. Just like the legendary 8 thousanders, these lesser mountains give a good test to the skills and acumen of the mountaineers. Island Peak is definitely one of them, and this peak climb is also done for the practice of mountaineering skills and acclimatization as a prelude to the Everest expedition.

Our itinerary for Island Peak expedition not just takes you to the top of this mountain from where you will enjoy a heavenly panorama of Himalayan peaks and other sceneries; it also helps you collect the intimate experience of the Sherpas, their culture and lifestyle. Khumbu region, also called Everest region, is the original settlement of Sherpas in Nepal, who have now earned a worldwide repute as the most hospitable people and the most reliable climbing guides. Our 19-day itinerary comes with the combined riches of climbing and trekking; and you also get to know about Everest Sherpa lifestyle.

We will start with a short flight through a very charming aerial mountain route to Lukla and then head towards Island Peak in the route towards Everest as far as Everest Base Camp. We have also set aside days for acclimatization. Once we reach the Island Peak Base Camp, it is possible to stand atop the summit in about 2 days. While some set up a high camp and proceed towards the summit, others spend two nights at the base camp and reach the summit in a single attempt. Depending on weather condition and other factors, your guide will choose the best alternative for you.

Guided tour - Fantastic company. Have used them 3 times now for solo tours with guide and porter. Twice in 2021 and once in 2022. Everest base camp, Manaslu, and Island Peak. Always helpful also before and after the trips. Was admitted to a hospital in Kathmandu with pneumonia. Someone came every day to see if there was anything they could help with. I think it will be difficult to get better service.

Back for the sixth time in a row! - I have been using and loving Outdoor Himalayan's agency services since 2011 now - and had nothing but good experiences with Ram and his team on each of my treks and expeditions that they have provided logistics support for. Most recently, I used Outdoor Himalayan to facilitate a 16 day EBC & Island Peak climb which, per the usual, went off without a hitch. We climbed with Mingma and Phurba, two brothers in law, who are highly competent and personable, with a great sense of responsibility. This was my first time climbing with Phurba (the younger of the two) and I was impressed with both his skills and his client service. Mingma is a senior climber with many 8000M summits under his belt; we've been climbing together since 2011 and hopefully will continue to climb together for many years to come. For Ram, his team and Outdoor Himalayan, I can only say: you are in good hands. Ram is highly capable, responsive, and a fun guy to hang out with and work with. No matter if this is going to be your first visit to Nepal or if you are looking to take on a bigger project and need a first-rate agency to help you organize logistics or permits -- you've come to the right place!
