A must do in Kandy - Five stars simply isn't enough for Shyama and Kumari, wonderful experience! We were picked up in a tuk tuk and taken directly to a fruit and veg market where we chose our desired ingredients. Their village is located a little further away from Kandy city, offering lush green views and a traditional Sri Lankan set up outside Shyama's home. They were both incredibly informative and friendly, I would recommend this cooking class to anyone who enjoys Sri Lankan food and wants to experience something more authentic.

The most wonderful experience. - What an amazing experience. I have done a lot of cookery courses in other countries with my daughter whilst travelling and this was one of the best. Shyana was the most lovely lady and invited us in to her family home. We made 7 curries plus an extra bonus one for my daughter as well as poppadom and rice. We had breakfast treats and tea on arrival which were excellent. We used the clay oven and learned the corrected ingredients to make these beautiful curries at home. My husband and other daughter collected us and had the food for lunch and said it was the best they had tried. Thank you Shyana.

A beautiful evening - 100% recommend - i could not recommend this class more - we had an amazing time from start to finish. we met Shyama at the market to buy the ingredients, where she showed us all the different produce. we then took a tuk tuk back to her village. it was a nice touch to walk part of the way so she could show us the paddy fields, cocoa trees, etc. the wooden hut where we cooked is beautiful and very peaceful - we watched the sun set as we cooked. shyama took us through all the different ingredients and spices used in each dish and even showed us how to make fresh coconut milk! the experience itself is very enjoyable - we cooked 9 dishes in total, and there is the right balance of cooking yourself / letting the teachers help. every single dish tasted absolutely amazing - we ate so much! they gave us fresh juice, coconut pancakes for dessert and even some fresh fruit to take home. shyama and her children and assistant are all lovely, very helpful and thoughtful, such wonderful hosts. it is also amazing value for money. do not think twice about booking - you will not regret it. make sure you go on an empty stomach!

Excellent ! You will not regret it !! - This cooking class is truly AWESOME. The host is super nice, the tour to the market very interesting. We could choose between several curries (fish, chicken, egg, vegetables) and buy what we needed at the market accordingly. Then we went to her house to cook. His village is super cute, there are lots of fruit and spice trees. We were able to cook several curries and typical dishes. In addition to having the satisfaction of cooking local dishes yourself, it was honestly our best meal in 1 month in Sri Lanka! She also speaks English very well which is very appreciable. And the icing on the cake, she sends us all the recipes so we can make them at home, really great!!

Fascinating insight into rural family life with cookery skills and a fabulous lunch to boot… - We trundled uphill out of Kandy in our trusty tuk tuk, leaving the frenetic and dusty city, and the primitive but colourful spectrum of the marketplace behind us. Turning off the road into a rural idyll of rice paddies, grazing cattle and plantation trees did not disappoint - this class was a fascinating insight into rural family life in Sri Lanka, as well as a masterclass in how to cook Sri Lankan dishes with ease. We arrived at the outdoor mudbrick cookery school where candles burnt in coconut shell holders, the clay oven was lit, and the spices and vegetables had been chopped ready. We were taught how to make seven different curry dishes, all utterly delicious. An educational experience in so many ways, we came away with enthusiasm, recipes and much more besides. Thank you Shyama, we loved the whole experience…

Great cooking class with family and teenager - The cooking class was conducted just for the three of us and began with purchasing the ingredients at the market in Kandy. Beforehand we were picked up from our hotel by tuktuk. After the market, approx. 15 minutes transfer to the cooking school, which is located right next to Mrs. Shyama's house in a beautiful rural setting. Authentic tm ambience. The dishes were very tasty and to our surprise, our daughter was also enthusiastic about cooking and eating.

A wonderful experience in cooking the most delicious food - After eating lots of incredible food in Sri Lanka, I was keen to do a cooking class. Having looked on the Internet, I liked the look of this class as it was in an outdoor traditional kitchen, away from the hectic city, and in a lovely village setting. I'm so glad I chose this class. Shayama was a wonderful host and teacher. She gave great explanations, and most of all, helped us cook the best food I've had on my entire trip. It was a wonderful evening, and one of my favourite experiences in Sri Lanka. Thanks to Shyama and her assistant, and best wishes to you and your family 🙏

BEST FOOD IN SRI LANKA - I had an amazing time at this cooking class!! I also went to the market first to learn about the ingredients and chose what to cook. I highly recommend. The outdoor kitchen is beautiful and Shyma did a brilliant job making us the head chefs! Every single dish that we cooked was 10/10, the best food I've eaten in Sri Lanka. She also sent the recipes to use after which is so lovely. I felt very at home here. I am vegan and Shyma explained what I could/couldn't eat. Each dish was so amazing that I didn't feel like I was missing out by not eating the meat/egg curries. We even got to see local trees growing jackfruit, cocoa, coffee, black pepper and coconuts!

Best food and cooking class ever! - This cooking class was just AMAZING, the best food we had in Sri lanka! And the most important: our Host Shyama was the nicest person, very friendly and welcoming! Make sure your Book the cooking class with the market tour! She took time to inform us about all the different vegetables, made us pick our favorite and the ones we wanted to try/cook, also gave us option of meat/fish/vegetarian option! We cooked more than 10 dishes, all DELICIOUS (eggplant curry, egg curry or the pancakes were our personal favorite! ) and she gave us all the recipes afterward to do It again at home! We were only the 3 of us so we could really speak with our host which is great! We RECOMMAND this cooking class 100%!! We already did a few cooking and this one was the best! Thank again!! We had an Amazing Time! Celia
