Afternoon with Kandy Village Cooking Class - We had an absolute great experience with the Kandy Village Cooking Class team. Started off with roaming around the local market, where we were introduced to many new vegetables, fruits and spices. Then we took a tuk-tuk to her village in Pilawala which was beyond all expectations. A beautiful kitchen where we were surrounded by her family and her neighbour who was also helping out with the class. We received many great tips on how to make the food at home, and the result was incredible! A must do when in Kandy!

Amazing experience! - The experience is amazing! In this cooking class you first go to the market to the market and buy your own ingredients. She also tells a lot about the fruits and vegetables at te market. After that you learn to cook the traditional Sri Lankan way! The result is a lot of delicious food!

Amazing! - We had a wonderful experience with shyama and her team. The beginning was great on the market. She explained the plants and fruits to us and bought the ingredients for the evening with us. After this we went to her cooking school in Kandy Village and the cooking class starts. We learned a lot, it was a lot of fun and we had a great evening. Shyama explained everything in detail and guided us. The authentic food turned out very good and we will try to cook it at home. The whole evening was very exiting and we felt like we were with friends at there family table.

Amazing Srilanka's cooking class - Thank you very much to Shyama and her friend Kumari for absolutely amazing authentic Srilankan's cooking class. I really enjoyed every bit of it, learned about coconut milk how they use and clean it to get fresh shredded coconut and milk and also about all the spices and many different curry meals. Taste of the food was yummy, using clay pots and fire makes the food sooo tasty. Highly recommend this experience while you in and around Kandy🫠

Wonderful experience of Sri Lanka - This was a fabulous day. The hosts were so welcoming and kind. This is a traditional cooking class in an outdoor kitchen using a wood fire and clay pots. Everything is made completely from scratch starting with grating coconut and making. Coconut crème and sambal. You mix all the spices, prepare the vegetables and we cooked 11 dishes inches sambal. The food is absolutely delicious, each one with different flavour. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience in such an interactive and engaging way. Loved every minute and every mouthful.

Thé full experience! - What an amazing experience was this cooking class. The Market visit was a very nice way to see a part of the ‘local’ side of Sri Lanka. Back at her home the class was great, tastefull dishes, especially the Eggplant curry was something else!! This cooking class should be in your ‘to do’ in Sri Lanka!!

Amazing experience. Best thing in Kandy - 10/10 cooking class that I really suggest everybody does in Kandy. Shyama who runs it is such a lovely person and helps you cook some of the most amazing food. She works from the coolest outdoor kitchen with a gorgeous view over the forest. Right from the start she takes you to the local food market and shows you an insight to local way of life. Explains many different vegetables that are not traditionally in western shops and allows you to pick which ones you would like to cook with. The food is definitely some of the best you'll eat throughout your time in Sri Lanka and you will get to learn so much from the experience. If your planning on skipping Kandy I would recommend spending a night here, just to come to Kandy Village Cooking Class with Shyama. One of the best things we have done in Sri Lanka. Please do yourself the favor and come have fun at this great class.

The best cooking class I've ever done - This was by far the best cooking class I have ever done. At the market we were able to choose our own vegetables and we were shown other typical vegetables. Afterwards we were served tea and cake in her great kitchen before we started cooking. We were even shown how to make fresh coconut milk and were allowed to try our hand at that too. The food was incredibly delicious and the whole cooking class was a really great experience! Shyama is such a kind and friendly person. I would definitely recommend her!!

Nice local cooking class! 11/10! - 11/10! We first met at the City Market, where Shyama told us a lot about the different vegetables. We bought local produce for our dinner and were allowed to choose 5 curries ourselves. She showed us a stand where we could buy local and real spices. She then organized transport to the Cooking Farm, where we first got a piece of cake and a Ceylon tea. Then we started with the introduction of the spices and the cutting. We made different curries, which were even cooked over real fire. There was also a dessert. We were able to choose the level of spiciness ourselves. We were even lucky that Shyama's family was visiting. Shyama and her family are so friendly, passionate about what they do and kind-hearted people! If you want to support something local, then do the cooking class here! We really, really liked it! And of course it tasted really good too!
