The Pallavas played a crucial role in the evolution from rock-cut architecture to stone temples. This architectural gem, built in 600 AD, is truly awe-inspiring.
• Pancha Rathas - Mahabalipuram, an ancient town known as a trading post during Roman times, gained prominence as a bustling seaport under the Pallava Dynasty in the 7th century AD. Ships bound for South East Asia would set sail from Mahabalipuram. Our first stop is Panch Rathas, or the 5 chariots, which are rock-cut monolithic temple structures dedicated to Draupadi and the 5 Pandavas from the epic Mahabharata.
