Additional Information

Our team, well-versed in city knowledge, will contribute to making your journey memorable. We’ll take you on a discovery of intriguing sights not mentioned in travel guides or online. The pace of a rickshaw is quicker than a stroll but not as fast as a bike ride, providing a pleasant and delightful experience. Relish in the splendor of Japanese culture, customs, and seasonal panoramas from our rickshaw, served with our staff’s distinct omotenashi (hospitality).

  • Adult pricing applies to age 6 and over
  • Child rate (age 5 years or under) applies only when children sit on an adult’s lap without occupying a seat
  • A maximum of 2 adults per rickshaw. Up to 2 children (age 5 years or under) can ride with 2 adults (children have to ride on an adult’s lap)
  • While rickshaws are able to fit two adults, each rickshaw is 29.1 inches (74 centimeters) wide, and it is sometimes more comfortable to book individual rickshaws for each passenger. For passengers of size, we recommend booking a rickshaw for each participant to ensure a comfortable ride. Passengers who do not both fit in one rickshaw but wish to participate in a tour at the same time will be required to purchase an additional rickshaw, which may not be available on the date of the tour with an English-speaking guide if not booked in advance. Those customers who do not purchase an additional rickshaw at the time of booking cannot be guaranteed availability.
  • Wheelchair and stroller friendly
  • May be operated by a multi-lingual driver, subject to availability; please ask for a driver who speaks your language at Departure Point
  • Expecting mothers in their first 16 weeks of pregnancy are not permitted to ride a rickshaw
  • Selected starting time is not automatically guaranteed. The time will be confirmed by email within 24 hours of booking.

Awesome Experience - I (F) was traveling solo to Kamukura and decided to avail of the Ebisuya Rickshaw services. I was scheduled for a 10:30 rickshaw, unfortunately due to train delays that day, I asked to reschedule to 11:00am which they gladly granted. I had Satoshi Arai as my rickshaw driver and he was very accommodating, friendly, and informative. As a female solo travel, he not only made me feel safe, he also took plenty of great photos and videos for my family and friends back home. I extended my 1 hour ride to 1.5 hours instead (I would have extended to 2 hours, but I had a schedule afterwards). I would highly recommend their services especially, my rickshaw driver, Satoshi. Thank you!

rickshaw like a pro - Going around Kamakura with Joichiro is one of the highlights of our trip to Japan! We wanted to see the bamboo gardens and we didn’t have much time to get there. Joichiro saved the day! He got us there quickly and we made it before they closed. +Funny, interesting and took great photos. #recomended!

Best Kamakura experience - Thank you to Tokuro-san, Joichiro-san, Kaiyo-san, Uta-san and the whole team who made our day in Kamakura so pleasant!! From the minute they greeted us everyone was very friendly and kind. Although we had visited Kamakura previously it was our first time to experience the Kamakura Rickshaw Tour and we highly recommend this tour to new visitors as well as those familiar with the area. We were introduced to small quiet streets and beautiful temples which we would not have discovered by ourselves. Our drivers were also so knowledgeable about the history of Kamakura and the Japanese tradition and it truly made our experience special!! We would definitely love to come back again. Note: small children ok! They made sure our child was covered and warm!

My 2nd ride and equally great experienced - I have tried the 1st ride at Asakusa and because of the great experience, I choose to ride with them again in Kamakura and it is the same great service provided. My driver was Joichiro and enjoyed his energy and positivity. To all the tourist coming to Japan, do ride the jinriksa rickshaw it is a great traditional experience

Great experience - A couple weeks ago, I had the chance to go to Japan and as part of the tour I was on, we rode in a rickshaw. All of the drivers were really friendly and knowledgeable, and they all spoke some degree of English. They take you around to some scenic sites of interest in Kamakura and help you take pictures. My driver, Ryo (aka Potato) was the best!! He made me and my sister feel super comfortable.

Wonderful experience and wonderful drivers - A couple weeks ago I had the chance to experience a rickshaw tour. I have travelled in Japan and saw them but never had enough interest to go, but I wish I had done this sooner! the drivers of are extremely friendly and knowledgable about the area. Our driver Satoshi did a great job of keeping us entertained the entire ride. I definitely recommend people try it out to gain a new perspective and appreciation for the history of the area they are visiting in Kamakura!

Fun rickshaw ride! - One of the planned activities on our 10 Day Classic Japan Tour with Super Values Tour Company was this rickshaw ride. It was perfect. Not too long or short. It was about 15 minutes long. Our rickshaw driver, Noel, was great. He stopped at various points and took great photos of us along his route. He was knowledgeable, friendly and gave us great service. If you get a chance to get a rickshaw ride I'd highly suggest it!
