Fantastic experience - We spent a day hiking around Meteora on our own, but would have missed out on so much of the depth of the experience if we had not taken the VisitMeteora tour! Dimitrius our guide and Sotos our driver were amazing. They shared the history of each monastery, the hermitages, the details of the towns of Kalambaka and Kastraki, the geological formation of the landscape, the religious and military context of the area, and even great restaurant recommendations. It was fantastic.

Informative well organised bus tour, excellent guide - We did the afternoon train tour as we were staying in Kalambaka but did not want an early start. As their was some flooding in the area the bus was a little late arriving from Athens, we met at the train station. The tour was excellent. I have forgotten the name of our guide on 27 September but she was excellent, really informative and from the area so was able to talk about her experiences. It really bough our trip to life. We visited two of the monasteries but stopped for views of them all. It was 4 hours well spent. We did a morning e bike tour the next day and pleased we did the bus tour in the afternoon as the monasteries and roads are very busy in the morning.

Amazing place, Great Tour!! - This was such a wonderful trip, a four hour away from Athens…you end up seeing so much history, culture and beautiful landscape. We booked our own train tickets and took a private car tour from Kalambaka. The train reaches at 12pm and our guide George was waiting for us at the train station. We had talked to him before reserving our tour so we had lot of clarity as to how this will be done. George was amazing and very knowledgeable of the area and history. His English was perfect and told us lot of anecdotal stories. He showed quite a few monasteries and also hermit caves. He would stop at various places that had amazing views of the monasteries as well as picture taking opportunities. Be prepared for some hikes and climbing steps in order to visit some of the monasteries. Before leaving us at the train station in the evening he took us to a bakery so that we could pick some items for our train ride back to Athens. The train leaves at around 6:30pm and going back kind of became a little tiring. Our trip with Visit Meteora was really enjoyable and a learning experience about the place and its history. Sometimes it is worth picking up the phone and talking to the tour organizers just to make sure everyone is on the same page. We would definitely recommend them to our friends and family visiting Meteora.

Slightly overcrowded bus if not thats fine. - Magnificent views on the Meteroa. Some place you shouldnt miss when you are in Greece. Tour was slightly overcrowded with 40 paxes into a big bus. Tour ended slightly later than usual but everything was covered as promised. Would be better if the tour has lesser paxes. Or at least no sharing of seats between strangers.

Very well organized tour to Meteora - The whole trip was organized very well and professionally. We were picked up right on time from the train station with the bus and tour guide waiting for us. The first stop was at a restaurant, so people could grab a quick bite after the long train ride and use the toilets, as the monasteries have only turkish toilets. Lunch was not included. Afterwards we started the tour, by stopping at several view points to take pictures and learn more about the monks and the history of the place. The tour guide Maria was very lovely, energetic and funny. She shared a lot of information with us, answered all questions and made the experience even better. The package includes the visit of three monasteries, but the entry fees are not included in the tour package. Be sure to check out which ones you would like to see, as not all monasteries are open each day of the week. We went on Wednesday, so the biggest one was open on that day. During our trip to Greece it was really hot, so even though the bus has air-conditioning and takes you close to the monasteries, you have to climb some stairs, part of them in the sun, so a hat, sunscreen and water are a necessity. You have to wear appropriate clothes to enter the monasteries (skirts for women and pants for men, which cover the knees). You can buy veils at some monasteries and one of them also offered skirts for free. The whole trip was really enjoyable, the view from there is amazing, the monasteries are beautiful and the tour was really great. Would definitely recommend this.
