- Kadugannawa - Known as the pass that divides the Kandy and Kegalle valleys, Kadugannawa has historically been the main route for invaders traveling from Colombo to Kandy. The area has witnessed numerous battles. When foreign forces managed to seize Kandy, the Sinhalese effectively launched a guerilla campaign against the supply route along Kadugannawa. The British were the first foreign nation to establish a permanent presence in Kandy, constructing a road between Kandy and Colombo to secure access.
- Kegalle - Located in west-central Sri Lanka, the town of Kegalle (also spelled Kegalla) is home to a junior technical college and is situated at the base of a steep rock face. The surrounding area produces rice, other agricultural products, precious stones, rubber, and graphite. The government established the Pinnewala Elephant Orphanage nearby to care for abandoned or orphaned wild elephants. The population was estimated at 18,113 in 2007.
