Great tour, rain or shine - A canoe ride, followed by a short hike up as close as we could get to Mendenhall Glacier. The touring company had waterproof pants and jackets for us as well as boots so we didn’t get wet at all. A really great tour. They were very careful about safety and making sure everyone was comfortable with the level of hiking and paddling.

Well worth the trip. - A canoe ride, followed by a short hike up as close as we could get to Mendenhall Glacier. The touring company had waterproof pants and jackets for us as well as boots so we didn’t get wet at all. A really great tour. They were very careful about safety and making sure everyone was comfortable with the level of hiking and paddling. They really tried to make things interesting for us, too, talking about the ecology and how the glacier has retreated over the years. Since the canoe was so large, everyone got to paddle which made it easier on each individual person.

Unique and active glacier adventure - A fabulous experience all around! We were picked up from the Juneau pier and transported to Mendenhall Lake where Ed and Rod outfitted us with quality gear and instructions for our 14 person canoe across the lake to the glacier. We were able to spend plenty of time enjoying the sights from the lake and in the desolation zone in front of the Mendenhall Glacier. Along the way they provided expert commentary and friendly banter. Overall would highly recommend to anyone coming to the Juneau area and looking for a unique and active adventure.

Fantastic tour - start to finish! - This excursion was the number 1 highlight of our Alaskan cruise. Our guides Ed and Rod were amazing. Funny, organized, attentive, patient, full of knowledge and facts and beyond capable of guiding our small group. If you are going to spend money on one excursion only… this is the one. All gear was clean and in new condition and the canoe was in excellent shape. This tour gets you up as close to the glacier as possible. Amazing views and photo opps. The “Mendenhall Mocha” at the end was the perfect touch! Huge appreciation for Ed & Rod… we can’t say enough good things about our experience with you!!!

Pun-filled journey. - We had an amazing time. Rod and Izzy were the best. We got a great paddling workout and amazing views of the glacier. The company gear kept us dry. Rod and Izzy are kind, professional and tell silly jokes. It was one of the highlights of our trip.

Great tour. You get as close as you can to the Glacier. - Tough trip with only five of us paddling a 25' canoe but it was well worth the trip. Our guides, Johnathan and Luke, did a fantastic job. They got as close as they could to the glacier. My wife and I had been there in 2012 and I was shocked at how the glacier has retreated in those few years. You can argue about the cause, but nobody can argue about the existence of climate change. I'm glad my granddaughter got to see it while there is still some left. We had also been to Laughton Glacier near Skagway and I've been told it is totally gone.
