This culinary class takes you on a journey through the universe of Japanese cuisine where you get to prepare Osaka’s famous dishes takoyaki and okonomiyaki, delicious miso soup as an accompaniment and then get to try your hand at whisking green tea (Matcha) and making Taiyaki (a popular fish-shaped waffle from the street cuisine).

Master the art of preparing miso soup from square one.

The two headliners of day’s menu—takoyaki and okonomiyaki are iconic delicacies from Osaka, revered as the gastronomic heart of Japan. The process of making takoyaki involves creating fried balls from wheat flour batter filled with a meaty piece of octopus—gain knowledge on chopping the octopus to the right size and perfect your skills in maneuvering the batter in the distinctive ball-shaped mold. Learn to cook with a local - This was a fantastic experience! Yayo invited us into her home and helped us cook some classic Japanese recipes. She demonstrated then encouraged us to learn on the job. She provided us with the written recipes to take away as well. Eating our own cooking was great. Only six of us so there was good time for interaction and this helped make it a fun night! Highly recommend.

You will leave full! - Don’t eat before you take this class! You will leave full!!! This was such a great experience! It will spoil you for any future street food that you eat, since it won’t taste as good as the dishes that you’ve made in this class!

Come hungry and prepared to learn - An incredible experience with a talented and humorous cook. She made us feel very welcome in her home. The food was oishi. (Hope that is the correct word). Would recommend it to everyone. I would add pictures but if I had consent from the other couple, but we are definitely all smiling and happy

A great way to prepare to continue your Japanese experience when leaving Japan. - Our host was such a lovely woman, friendly and able to answer our many questions throughout the lesson. The venue was well set up. The instructions for preparing the various meals were simple and clear. A good pace to the session. We loved the personalised attention to detail all the way through. We are now prepared for shopping for the ingredients and making the dishes from abroad.
