Guided by a proud and knowledgeable local who enjoys helping visitors understand his community. - Had an excellent and thought-provoking tour experience with the company owner, a Soweto local. My sister and I had the opportunity to tour through multiple neighborhoods and to learn about Soweto's history and its post-apartheid story. The guide gave in-depth information and context around our particular interests in medicine and education. My impression was that we got to see much more than the "typical" tour. Highly recommend.

It was a very good tour. ... - It was a very good tour. Thabang was knowledgeable and his detailed knowledge and feel for Soweto shown through in this tour. The only negative was the surprise that I needed to pay extra for airport pickup when I specified this from the beginning of the booking.

A very informative and interesting tour - This is a fantastic tour. Our guide Lebo was brilliant. Informative and considerate and interesting conversations with him about all aspects. Our only regret is that we didnt take stationery to the kindergarden for the beautiful kids - we really regret that, we left cash instead (and this in not compulsory but it is the right thing to do).

Absolute recommendation - Absolutely recommended tour and a super great guide (Tabanga). Great insights into the many facets of Sowero. Visit as “homies” and not as tourists.

A real piece of Soweto - Very good to see a piece of real Soweto and not just the tourist spots. Good guide who knows a lot and is very open. Also neatly picked up and returned to the hotel

The best tour of my trip! - Thank you, Thabang for sharing your life experiences, your knowledge and stories with us.
Thabang is great company and it we felt lucky to share the morning with him and understand the real history of Soweto from a local.
This is a small group tour so you have the opportunity to ask a lot of questions and not be part of a big bus tour. We had a great time.
I joined a few tours on my trip around South Africa and can say this one was the best of the trip. I'll be recommending Thabang to anyone who is travelling to Johannesburg.
We also had the chance to briefly meet Neo....thanks for picking us up so we could join the group!

A highlight our trip to SA! Do it! - A tour of Soweto with Thabang of Tsalanang Tours was an absolute highlight of our first trip (family of four, two older teenagers) to South Africa, and is a must when visiting Johannesburg! In his comfortable bus, he took us round several different areas of the city. We saw all the different nuances and complexities and he gave us his honest and personal view on living there. Soweto is not just what you see on the television. It is a place where there is a great sense of community and where all social classes live. We also heard some very humorous anecdotes and thoroughly enjoyed the time there and our contact with our knowledgeable guide. We felt completely safe and would certainly do the tour again!

Cancelled without Telling Us! - Operator cancelled and never notified us! We were at meeting point and after 5 minutes past meeting time, I messaged operator and got no reply. Called Viator and agent informed me the operator cancelled and emailed me. They did, three minutes after I messaged to request status of tour! This operator is not reliable!!
