The excursion begins with a panorama of Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives. We journey down the mount, passing Jerusalem’s most ancient Jewish cemetery, which hails back 3,000 years. Our route carries us through the Kidron Valley, home to Jewish tombs from the 1st century AD, and brings us to the Old City courtesy of the Dung Gate. Our journey continues on to Temple Mount, a hallowed place that once hosted the ancient Jewish Temple and is currently the location of the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa Mosque. There are times when access to Temple Mount is restricted by officials; in such cases, we will instead pay a visit to the Tower of David. Subsequently, we tour the Davidson Center, an archaeological park near Temple Mount housing excavated structures from the First and Second Temple Periods. We explore the dug-out areas and observe historical remains from different bygone eras. The tour culminates with a return to your lodging.
