The Saw-leaf Zelkova and Japanese hackberry trees at the village’s center are particularly noteworthy.
- Seongsan Ilchulbong - Seongsan Ilchulbong Tuff Cone, a prominent Jeju landmark, emerged around 5,000 years ago from an underwater volcanic eruption. Renowned for its sunrise views, it ranks among Jeju Island’s top ten scenic wonders. Besides sunrise viewing, it is a favored trekking destination. The Seongsan-Ojo Trail links two villages across the peak, while the Jijil Trail offers insights into the UNESCO-designated geopark and Jeju’s local culture. Walking these trails is highly recommended to fully appreciate the area; reaching the summit reveals the expansive volcanic crater and the surrounding ocean. To complete the visit, Seongsanpo Port offers a chance to observe haenyeo (female divers) in action.
- Haenyeo Museum - Jeju haenyeo are revered as the resilient mothers and spiritual anchors of Jeju’s community. Their lifestyle exemplifies a model for humanity, characterized by a merit-based community and democratic decision-making. They supported the elderly and infirm, like Halmang Badang and Geseok, and used their earnings to benefit society, including villages and schools. They also devised innovative methods to coexist with the sea, such as beach cleaning, gold retrieval, and dialysis. Recognized for its cultural significance, Jeju haenyeo culture was inscribed as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity on November 30, 2016.
- Manjanggul Lava Tube - Spanning approximately 7.4km, the Manjanggul Lava Tube is a partially multilayered lava tube. The main tunnel measures 18m in width and 23m in height, making it one of the world’s largest lava tubes. Its formation thousands of years ago and excellent preservation make it invaluable to researchers and scientists. Due to ceiling collapses, there are three entrances, with tourists permitted to enter through the second entrance, exploring up to 1km. The lava tunnel features various formations, including stalactites, stalagmites, flowstones, lava tubes, lava shelves, and lava rafts. Notably, the lava column at the tourist area’s end stands at 7.6m, the tallest in the world.
- Gwangchigi Beach - Gwangchigi Beach offers some of the most pristine and breathtaking views along Jeju’s coastline. In the distance, Seongsan Sunrise Peak, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site, stands as a gem of Jeju Island. The area features trendy cafes, restaurants, travel accommodations, and family-friendly activities like the Aquaplanet Aquarium. It is also where Olle walking trails 1 and 2 converge.
