Seongsan Ilchulbong - 성산일출봉 (Seongsan Ilchulbong)
Seongsan Ilchulbong Tuff Cone, a prominent Jeju landmark, was formed approximately 5,000 years ago from an underwater volcanic eruption. It is particularly famous as a sunrise viewing spot, considered one of Jeju Island’s top ten scenic wonders. Besides sunrise views, Seongsan Ilchulbong is also a fantastic trekking destination. The Seongsan-Ojo Trail connects two villages by crossing the peak, while the Jijil Trail offers a closer look at the UNESCO-designated geopark and Jeju’s local culture. Walking these paths is recommended to fully experience the area; reaching the summit provides views of the vast volcanic crater and the surrounding blue ocean. To complete your visit, head to Seongsanpo Port to watch the haenyeo (female divers) at work.
Seopjikoji - 섭지코지 (Seopjikoji)
A short drive from Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak leads to Cape Seopjikoji. The name, from the Jeju dialect, means “Cape of Small Land” due to its unique cliff formation jutting into the ocean. The picturesque blend of hill and ocean attracts tourists year-round. You might even spot Jeju ponies grazing on the grassy fields. Walking northeast along the cliff, you’ll reach Bulgeunoreum Parasitic Cone, offering a stunning view of a white lighthouse against the dark blue sea. Other notable attractions at Cape Seopjikoji include the Glasshouse and Yumin Art Gallery, two masterpieces by world-renowned architect Ando Tadao, which blend beautifully with the natural surroundings.
Seongeup Folk Village - 성읍민속마을 (Seongeup Folk Village)
This entire village, preserving the traditional living site of old Jeju, is designated as an Important Folklore Cultural Heritage. Unlike typical folk villages, it is still inhabited today. Village residents volunteer as guides, providing visitors with a wealth of information. The Saw-leaf Zelkova and Japanese hackberry trees in the village center are worth seeing.
Haenyeo Museum - 해녀박물관
Jeju haenyeo are the resilient mothers and spiritual pillars of Jeju residents. Their community life is a model for humanity, based on merit and democratic decision-making. They cared for the elderly and infirm, raised funds for societal contributions, and devised ways to coexist with the sea. Jeju haenyeo culture was recognized as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity on November 30, 2016.

Formed thousands of years ago, it is well-preserved and valuable to researchers. Due to ceiling collapse, there are three entrances; tourists can use the second entrance and explore up to 1 km. The lava tunnel features various formations, including stalactites, stalagmites, flowstones, and lava shelves. The lava column at the tourist area’s end is 7.6m high, the tallest in the world.

The white windmills and emerald waters along the winding shoreline exemplify the autumn landscape and eco-friendly electricity generation. It’s one of Jeju’s most beautiful sunset spots, so bring your camera! An Ecological Experience Center walking course is available, with an observation deck midway for rest and views. Walking along this road promises pleasant memories and photos!
Yongmeori Coast - 용머리해안 (Yongmeori Coast)
Named for its resemblance to a dragon diving into the ocean, Yongmeori Coast is a sandstone bed formed over millions of years. Its mysterious scenery is awe-inspiring. At the coast’s foot is a Hamel Monument, established by the Netherlands Embassy and Korean Foundation on April 1, 1980, to strengthen diplomatic ties and honor Hendrick Hamel’s dedication.

Featuring a cinder cone and tuff ring, Songaksan Mountain’s peak, or mouth, is 69m deep and well-preserved. Once unknown to visitors except for archaeological reasons, it is now part of a popular tour course with many narrow paths. Songaksan Mountain served as Japan’s forward base during its invasion of China and WWII’s final defense line. Ruins of airfields, hangars, and anti-aircraft artillery are scattered, with coastal trenches below the cliff. The cave, built using the shore cliff, and trenches offer excellent ocean views and high preservation value.

Mysterious Road (Dokkaebi Road) - 도깨비도로 (Mysterious Road)
This intriguing spot, known as Jeju Mysterious Road or Dokkaebi Road, is famous because cars placed on this steep road appear to roll uphill, defying gravity. This optical illusion tricks the eye, making the road seem tilted in the opposite direction.
Eoseungsaengak Trail - Eoseungsaengak (Eoseungsaeng Volcanic Cone), a parasitic volcano of Hallasan Mountain, can be accessed from the Eorimok District of Hallasan Mountain National Park. From Cheonwangsa Temple, take the 1100 Road to Seogwipo. The round trip from Eorimok to Eoseungsaengak Peak takes about an hour. The trail features log stairs and wide wooden boards to prevent summit soil loss. At the trail’s start, a sign reads “Eoseungsaengak Hiking Trail.” The name Eoseungsaeng means “the place where the king’s horse flies,” with an interesting legend. A central official, falsely accused of treason, was exiled here and died, wishing to be reborn as the king’s horse.
