Hello, I am Andrew, the proprietor of Wavecrest Surf School. I have been surfing for the past 35 years and imparting surf lessons for 16 years in Jbay.
Our philosophy is grounded in authenticity; it’s less about producing professional surfers and more about ushering individuals of every age into the surf lifestyle, its joy, the passion for the sea, and the thrill that each wave offers.
Our team fosters an amicable, hospitable environment that outshines others. It is managed professionally, ensuring positivity at all points.

Highly recommended! Amazing experience! - Had an amazing surf lesson with the instructor Dylan! He was excellent, boosting my confidence. The people were friendly, and the overall atmosphere, much like the waves, was fantastic. A truly incredible experience, big thanks to the awesome team. Highly recommended!

Awesome, even for beginners. - Andrew and Dillan were fantastic! Knowledgeable, cool headed instructions even or beginners at an intermediate surf location. The location is absolutely prime! You go, grab boards and wetsuits (change in the shack so close to the beach it touches the sand) and your a moments away from paddling out. Went back about half a dozen times in our stay there. Will do again when we come back to Jeffrey's Bay.

The one and only surf school in JBay - We’ve had the best surf session ever in our lives ! Andrew is so nice and patient! His advices were so accurate ! In two hours we’ve made such progress ! What a pleasure !

Highly recommend - I booked a lesson with Andrew at very short notice but he was happy to accommodate me. It was my first lesson ever and we had a two hour lesson, after which, I was able to confidently stand on the board and ride the waves all the way to the beach. A huge feet that I didn’t think I, being as clumsy as I am, was ever going to be able accomplish after only two hours. Andrew was very patient and extremely supportive the whole time making the times that I washed up like a beached whale on the shore feel like fun instead of a failed attempt.

Great time with Andrew - Staying in JBay, we went surfing twice with Andrew and his crew and had an amazing time. For me it was the second time and for my fiancé the first time: Andrew managed to challenge both of us and took great care. Due to bad weather/waves our second booking was postponed - after trying to get into the wave for an hour - for the afternoon which was a giant gesture. Being honest and wanting us to succeed, Andrew went back with us again in the afternoon and didn’t even charge this.
Highly recommend for beginners and advanced surfers!

100% recommended - I can 100% recommend the beginner surf lesson at Wavecrest Surf School. The instructions were super clear, the teacher very motivating and we even had some Dolphins passing by! Great experience.
