Always a good adventure with Rockaboo - As an experienced ice climber who doesn't get out that often these day, I've done this climbing group tour with RMA before to keep up my skills, run laps on top-rope, and just have fun with others, and it's always a professionally guided experience. They provide all the gear (but you can use your own if you have it), transportation, and their ACMG certified guides set everything up and perform all the necessary safety checks. On this outing, I turned out to be the only participant, and while it would have been completely fair of them to cancel the tour, it went ahead anyway, so I had a private climbing guide for the group cost for the day, which was great. The guide was very knowledgeable about ice conditions at the various climbing locations, and we opted for the best available spot given the deteriorating spring ice climbing conditions. The guide provided belays all day, safety checks, tips to improve my climbing techniques, good conversation, and managed to take several photos of me climbing along the way. All in all, the usual great experience with Rockaboo.

Loved our first ice climbing experience - Went ice climbing with Martin in Maligne canyon. we would have loved to ice climb in tangle creek falls but considering weather on the day, Maligne canyon was the best option Martin seemed knowledgeable about Jasper area and loves his job. We were a group of 3 friends and one other person joined ,Martin went through all the safety points and was patient and attentive to all four of us. It was -20+ with wind chill on the day and he made sure we were warm, offered us mittens and jackets to keep us warm. Highly recommend Rockaboo and Martin . Hope I can make it to glacier hike with same team during summer/fall

Brilliant experience - Absolutely sensational experience with these guys. They are experts in what they do but still had patience and humour for beginners- a joy to experience climbing up a frozen waterfall. Brilliant!

Amazing experience - This was truly an awesome experience knowing that it’s an ice cap that you’re on. Just wear the proper footwear and you’re good to go!

Awesome Ice Climbing Adventure in Maligne Canyon - My two boys (16 & 20) and I did the Jasper Ice Climbing experience in Maligne Canyon this past Sunday. It was an outstanding day of ice climbing and learning about this sport in a safe (albeit busy) environment. I'd recommend this to anyone who is relatively fit and has a sense of adventure. Our guide, Marteen, was one of the best mountain guides I've ever had. (And I've done quite a few heli-skiing trips, paddling adventures, etc. with numerous guides over the years.) He was professional, highly-skilled, and made safety a priority. Yes, it takes a bit of time to get all the gear straightened out, drive to the parking area, hike to the location, etc. However, the journey is well worth it!

An Awesome Adventure Ice climbing at Tangle Falls with Max - We went ice climbing at Tangle Falls with Max, the owner of Rockaboo Mountain Adventures. We had no climbing experience and we were initially nervous about the climb and what to expect. Our day started at the Rockaboo office where we got fitted with equipment and signed waivers, then we piled in to the shuttle and Max drove our group of four climbers to Tangle falls, which is about an hour away from Jasper. After parking, we got on our gear, and it was a five minute walk to the climbing site. Max set up two lines for climbing, talked about safety, and gave us an intro to climbing. We then took turns ice climbing and belaying. Max checked everyone's setup before each climb, watched and encouraged us, and even took a few pictures (the ones posted here). Max made us feel very safe about climbing and was a great instructor. Tangle falls is about a 30 meter climb with lots of humps to stop and rest. It took us about 15-20 minutes to climb to the top and each person in the group had the opportunity to climb three or four times before the end of the day. I would have climbed at least once or twice more if there had been more time. The ice was very different in the two climbing areas, despite being only a few meters apart. The one side had more sun so the ice was softer and wetter, but easier to get the crampons and ice picks to dig in. The ice was much harder at the second line and I had difficulty kicking in the boots and getting a good grip. At one point my crampons gave out under me but the rope held me up and I was able to maintain my grip on the ice picks and recover. It wasn't scary, but my arms were a little tired and I appreciated a brief rest while belaying my partner while he climbed. We didn't feel particularly sore or tired at the end of the day, but we felt it in our core muscles two days later. My partner and I are in our early 40s and hike regularly as our main activity. Everyone had an amazing time and we're looking forward to future adventures with Rockaboo. I had initially booked for three people but one person had to cancel a few days before the climb and it was easy to get a credit.

Highlight of our trip! - This was an absolutely fantastic guided experience that I would highly recommend for anyone who wants to try the sport with safe and experienced guides. We had the pleasure of getting to know Martin and Brooklyn and they took great care of us. The climbing itself is a blast, even for those who have extensive rock climbing experience. What impressed me most was how efficiently the guides used their time. They gave us the knowledge we needed quickly but effectively so we could get to climbing as soon as possible. While one guide was getting us kitted out, the other was out setting up the rope, so we maximized our time on the ice.

Most Story-Worthy Part of Our Trip - Absolutely incredible experience. Can’t recommend enough for adventure seekers. As someone who enjoyed hiking a via Ferrara, this was right up my alley. And Maarten was the most fantastic guide!

Great experience with the perfect guide! - This experience was really amazing for a person who had never done this before! Our guide Maarten was the perfect person to introduce us to this! The only reason why I rate it a 4 out of 5 was that we each only got to climb the mountain twice per person, which in my opinion was not enough for a 6 hours tour. As we had no experience it was normal that we had to be properly explained what we have to do, but the 2 hours drive in total and the gearing up made that we had less quality time on the mountain itself.
