As a seasoned surfer, I’ve spent countless hours chasing waves across Central America, but kitesurfing was a new frontier for me. When I heard about the opportunity to learn kitesurfing in the stunning waters of Klein Curacao, I couldn’t resist. The promise of two full days of kiting lessons, all-inclusive meals, and the chance to explore a new island was too tempting to pass up.

The adventure began with a catamaran ride to the island. There’s something magical about sipping a morning coffee while the ocean breeze tousles your hair and the sun warms your skin. Emanuel, our instructor, used the journey to introduce us to the basics of kiting theory. His enthusiasm was infectious, and by the time we reached the island, I was eager to hit the water.

Learning the Ropes

After a morning session of theory and practice, we took a break for lunch, which was included in the package. The food was delicious, and the break gave me a chance to soak in the island’s beauty.

In the afternoon, it was back to the water. Emanuel’s patience and expertise were evident as he guided me through the steps of controlling the kite. By the end of the first day, I felt a newfound confidence in my kiting abilities. The thrill of harnessing the wind and gliding across the water was exhilarating.

Riding the Waves

On the second day, I brought along a friend to share in the experience. Watching her enjoy the island while I continued my lessons added an extra layer of joy to the day. Emanuel was impressed with my progress and encouraged me to push my limits. By the afternoon, I was ready to try the board.

The moment I managed to stand up and ride the waves, even if just for a short distance, was unforgettable. It was a testament to Emanuel’s excellent instruction and the supportive environment he created. As a parting gift, he gave me a rashguard, a memento of my kitesurfing journey.
