• Jaisalmer Fort - Jaisalmer’s fort is a vibrant urban hub, home to approximately 3,000 residents within its walls. It features a maze of narrow, winding lanes lined with houses, temples, numerous handicraft shops, guesthouses, and restaurants. Entry to the fort is from the east, near Gopa Chowk, and involves passing through four massive gates along a zigzagging path to the upper section. The final gate opens into Dashera Chowk, the central square of the fort.
• Nathmal Ji Ki Haveli - This stunning haveli is situated in the heart of the town within narrow lanes. It is a privately owned 19th-century haveli renowned for its ornate exterior carvings and unique architecture.
• Kothari’s Patwaon-Ki-Haveli - The largest and most impressive haveli is Patwa-ki-Haveli, which looms over a narrow lane with its intricate stonework resembling honey-colored lace. Built between 1800 and 1860 by five Jain brothers who prospered in brocade and jewelry, it is divided into five sections. The first section, Kothari’s Patwa-ki-Haveli Museum, is privately owned and vividly depicts 19th-century life, making it the only section worth the entry fee. Other sections include two largely empty government-owned ‘museums’ and two private sections with shops.
• Mandir Palace - A prominent landmark in this magnificent heritage city is Mandir Palace, which served as the residence of Jaisalmer’s rulers for over two centuries. Mandir Palace is an exquisitely carved architectural marvel featuring ornate balconies, canopies, and delicately carved screens, showcasing the pinnacle of local craftsmanship. A notable feature of Mandir Palace is its tower, ‘Badal Vilas,’ which stands as the tallest structure below the hilltop city fort.
• Gadsisar Sagar Lake - Gadi Sagar Lake is located to the south of Jaisalmer city. This rainwater lake, set in tranquil surroundings, is encircled by numerous temples and holy shrines.
