• Corinth Canal - This incredible man-made canal links the Aegean and Ionian seas, as well as the Peloponnese peninsula with central Greece. Over 2,500 workers excavated 6,400 meters over twelve years (from 1881 to 1893). Visitors can stop for photos, walk across a pedestrian bridge, and admire the canal from 80 meters high.
• Sparta - Sparta was distinctive in ancient Greece for its social system and constitution, introduced by the legendary Lycurgus. He organized society to prioritize military efficiency, focusing all social institutions on military training and physical development. Its residents were categorized as Spartiates (Spartan citizens with full rights), mothakes (non-Spartan free men raised as Spartans), perioikoi (free residents involved in commerce), and helots (state-owned serfs, enslaved non-Spartan local population).
• Archaeological Museum of Sparta - The Archaeological Museum of Sparta is the oldest provincial archaeological museum in the country. Its neoclassical building, constructed between 1874 and 1876 in the city center, is a listed building due to its architectural and historical significance.

The museum is closed every Tuesday. General admission is €10.

• Acropolis and Ancient Theater - Thucydides wrote:
  Suppose the city of Sparta to be deserted, and nothing left but the temples and the ground-plan, distant ages would be very unwilling to believe that the power of the Lacedaemonians was at all equal to their fame. Their city is not built continuously, and has no splendid temples or other edifices it rather resembles a group of villages and would therefore make a poor show.
  Visitors can explore The Acropolis and the Ancient Theater of Sparta. Built from local white marble during the Roman period, the late first-century B.C. theater was one of the largest in the Classical world. It could hold an estimated 16,000 people, featured a mobile stage, and was a tourist attraction in ancient times. Much of the auditorium was destroyed during the Byzantine period, and the remaining marble and limestone blocks have suffered from erosion.
• Leonidas Monument - The statue of King Leonidas stands defiantly in front of a stadium. When the Persians attacked at Thermopylae and demanded the Spartans and their allies surrender their weapons, Leonidas’ response, immortalized beneath his feet, was ‘Molon labe’ (‘Come and get them’).
  Excavations conducted in the previous century, north of modern Sparta, uncovered an impressive structure. The edifice, dating back to the 5th century B.C., was made from large limestone blocks. The archaeologist who led the 1892 excavations initially thought it was a small temple. Although its purpose is not yet confirmed, it is believed to be the tomb of Leonidas. According to Pausanias, it was here that the remains of the legendary Spartan king were transferred and buried after the battle of Thermopylae. The tomb of Leonidas is the only preserved monument of the Ancient Agora.
• Museum of the Olive and Greek Olive Oil - OPTIONAL/ The Museum of the Olive and Greek Olive Oil, located in Sparta (Peloponnese), immerses visitors in the culture, history, and technology of olive and olive oil production in Greece, from prehistoric times to the early 20th century. The olive and olive oil are presented from various perspectives: economy, nutrition, religious worship, art, and technology. The museum offers the chance to see the earliest evidence of the olive tree and olive oil production in Greece: Rare fossilized olive leaves, 50,000-60,000 years old, from Santorini, the oldest findings proving the presence of the olive tree in Greece, and Linear B Tablets of the 14th century BC (exact replicas), with the first written records about olives and olive oil.
  Visiting is optional and depends on time. The museum is closed every Tuesday. General admission is €5.
• Ancient Corinth (Archaia Korinthos) - Here lie the remnants of Ancient Corinth, one of the largest cities in Ancient Greece. Walking through the ancient city of Corinth is like stepping back in time.
  For Christians, Corinth is well-known from the two letters of Saint Paul in the New Testament, First and Second Corinthians. Corinth is also mentioned in the Acts of the Apostles as part of Paul the Apostle’s missionary journeys.

A combined ticket for Ancient Corinth is €15 in summer or €8 in winter (includes museum entry).

• This is a private & flexible tour available from Athens or Nafplion. However we only request to have in mind the agreement hours. But if you like to extend it, please make a fair arrangement with your tour driver/ leader. Additional charge per hour is 30€ (Sedan) - 45€ (Minivan) - 60€ (Minibus).
