Corinth Canal - The Corinth Canal connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. It cuts through the narrow Isthmus of Corinth and separates the Peloponnese from the Greek mainland, arguably making the peninsula an island. The canal was dug through the Isthmus at sea level and has no locks. It is 6.4 kilometers (4 miles) in length and only 21.4 meters (70 ft) wide at its base, making it impassable for most modern ships. Nowadays it has little economic importance and is mainly a tourist attraction.
The canal was initially proposed in classical times and a failed effort was made to build it in the 1st century AD. Construction started in 1881 but was hampered by geological and financial problems that bankrupted the original builders. It was completed in 1893 but, due to the canal’s narrowness, navigational problems and periodic closures to repair landslides from its steep walls, it failed to attract the level of traffic expected by its operators.

- Your English- speaking driver will explain about the ancient monuments that you are about to visit, the ancient history of Greece and interesting facts about historical and modern-day Greece but is not allowed by law to accompany you in the sites. If you wish to have a licensed tour guide to accompany you into the sites, we will help you arrange a licensed tour guide to be with you at an extra cost
- Your tour is totally private. No unknown passengers will participate in your group.

Wonderful Experience with Jimmy - Jimmy was one of the most informative and knowledgeable guides we've had on our many family vacations. He took us to many sites and stops we would not have known about otherwise and made visiting all the sites very easy by dropping us off and picking us up right from the entrances and exits. I had even just mentioned Mountain Tea, so he was kind enough to give us a gift of mountain tea from a local shop in Nafplio. He took us everywhere we asked him to, plus a few extras. He even got us back in time to Athens for our dinner reservation. Highly recommend!!

Great Day with the Ancients - Our trip to the ancient ruins of Corinth, Mycenae, Epidaurus and Nafplio was one of the highlights of our three weeks in Greece. HP Tours provided a comfortable van and a great driver, Michael. Michael was calm, competent and seemed to truly enjoy acquainting the four of us with his homeland of Greece. The optional videos provided good general preparation for each archeological site. Our lunch stop was the best seafood imaginable. Thanks for having the cold water the the umbrellas when we needed them! Michael pointed out other sites and vistas along the way--something to look forward to next trip to Athens. We would pick HD Tours again!

Worth it- to see locations outside Athens - This was a fantastic experience that only a private tour could provide. Nancy was an incredible guide, gave us tons of knowledge around each location and answered all our questions. Communication was great, driving was a breeze and would highly recommend

Best Day in Athens! - Our driver, Panos and another driver in training, Isidoros, picked us up at the airport to begin a wonderful day. We were so lucky to get the both of them. We thoroughly enjoyed the different perspectives they each brought. I can't recommend this tour and this company enough. They were wonderful every minute of the day, catering to our every need. We enjoyed each stop on the tour but we also learned so much during the drive. We also hired a private tour guide, Theo, who met us at each stop and gave our family a personal tour full of historical context. If you don't do any other tours while in Greece, do this one! Ask for Panos for your driver and Theo for your tour guide. They were magnificent!

Family trip to Argoils and Porto Heli - Our experience was amazing. Our driver Panos is a lovely person, he came to pick us up from our apartment in Athens, had fresh bottles of water for our trip, had a lot of knowledge about the road and sites along the way. We had a few stops in Naflion and mycenae and also stopped for lunch at a sea front restaurant. The vehicle was very comfortable, and the whole day was just great. Would definitely recommend and use them again.

Great Day Trip!! - Driver was right on time and provided a comfortable and safe ride. He was very knowledgeable and kept us well informed throughout the day. Overall this was an outstanding experience for our group of four. One of the highlights of our visit to Athens.

Beautiful Tour with personalization - This touring company really knows to treat people well. They also helped and made great suggestions beyond the tours. They took us to the best sight seeing places, local places for shopping and best local restaurants with views. I highly recommend this touring company to everyone. The private tours is the best way to have it customize and personalized for your needs. They even bought us the Nafplius Oranges for free for us 😍

Superb experience! - Superb experience! We took the tour in 2021 at the end of August. The driver was very friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable. We highly recommend this private tour! We would take another private tour with them again if we were to visit Greece again.
