Additional Information

During the Classical era, the Olympic Games took place once every four years, spanning from the 8th century BC to 4th century AD.

Boasting over 70 significant structures, the archaeological site is extensively sprinkled with remnants of the past. This popular tourist hub houses two museums, both dedicated to the games of old and new.

Historical conjecture pegged the origination of the site around 1500 BC, evolving into the religious cult of Zeus by 1000 BC. A reevaluation suggests the existence of just a sanctuary during the 9th or 8th centuries.

After exploring the site, you’re welcome to relax and enjoy a meal, snack, or drink, complemented by a stunning panorama.
