- Hagia Sophia Cultural Info Center - Known as the Byzantine Church of Divine Wisdom, this iconic structure was initially constructed as an Orthodox basilica. It later served as a mosque and is now a museum. Commissioned in 537 by Byzantine Emperor Justinian, it was the cathedral of Constantinople and held the title of the world’s largest cathedral for nearly a millennium. After the Ottomans captured Constantinople in 1453, it was converted into a mosque and remained so until 1931.
- Blue Mosque - After visiting Hagia Sophia, the next stop is the famous Blue Mosque, completed in 1616. Sultan Ahmet I commissioned its construction at the age of 19. The mosque’s interior is adorned with over 20,000 handmade ceramic tiles featuring more than fifty tulip designs. The tiles on the lower levels are traditionally styled, while those in the galleries are more elaborate, depicting flowers, fruits, and trees.
- Topkapi Palace Museum - This museum was the residence of Ottoman sultans from the 15th to the 19th centuries and is filled with imperial treasures and artifacts.
- Kapali Carsi - This maze of streets and passages houses over 4,000 shops, each dedicated to a specific trade, such as goldsmiths, carpet sellers, and Turkish arts and crafts. Visitors can find hand-painted ceramic plates, hand-honed copperware, brassware and trays, water ewers, onyxware, and meerschaum pipes.
- Hippodrome - Features the Obelisk of Theodosius and the Walled Obelisk.
- German Fountain - Situated in Sultanahmet Square, opposite the tomb of Sultan Ahmet I, this historical fountain was a gift from German Kaiser Wilhelm II to the sultan and the city. Crafted in Germany in the neo-Byzantine style and adorned with gold mosaic, it was erected in Istanbul in 1901.
