Istanbul to Cappadocia Flight and Cappadocia Tour
Istanbul - At approximately 03:30 – 04:00 am, the team will collect you from your Istanbul hotel and transfer you to the airport for your flight to Cappadocia. Upon arrival at the airport, you will complete your self-check-in using the flight details provided after booking the tour and board your flight to Cappadocia. Once you land in Cappadocia, the team will greet you at the domestic terminal exit. There will be about an hour’s transfer to Cappadocia, where you will meet your group and embark on this unforgettable experience.
Around 09:00 AM, you will begin the first day of your tour;
First day’s highlights:
- Goreme Open Air Museum
- Pasabaglar (Monk’s Valley)
- Devrent (Imagination Valley)
- Uchisar Castle
- Urgup Town
- Avanos Pottery Town
- Rose & Red Valleys
The tour concludes around 16:00, after which you will be taken to your cave hotel in Goreme for a delightful stay.
Goreme Open-Air Museum - The Goreme Open-Air Museum resembles an extensive monastic complex with numerous refectory monasteries placed side-by-side, each featuring its own remarkable church. It is undoubtedly the first attraction to visit in Cappadocia, located centrally in the region with easy access from all directions.
Pasabag - Pasabag in Cappadocia is situated on the road to Zelve, coming from Goreme or Avanos. Here, you can see highly notable earth pillars in the middle of a vineyard, hence the name “Pacha’s vineyard.” Pacha means “General,” a military rank in Turkish, and is a common nickname. This site is also known as Monks Valley, named after some cones carved in tuff stones that stand apart. Currently, there is a vineyard and several tuff cones right next to the road.
Ortahisar - Ortahisar means “middle castle,” and as its name suggests, it is central among the Cappadocian towns of Goreme, Urgup, Uchisar, and Nevsehir, and only a few kilometers from the Goreme Open Air Museum. Upon entering the town, you will notice doors in the rock surfaces on both sides. These doors are excellent examples of the cool-air storages in Cappadocia. In these naturally air-conditioned rooms, lemons and oranges from the Mediterranean region, apples from Nigde, local potatoes, quinces, and onions are stored. Green lemons gradually turn yellow in these storerooms.
Devrent Valley - Devrent Valley, also known as Imaginary Valley or Pink Valley, does not have cave churches like other valleys in Cappadocia. There are no Roman castles or tombs in Devrent Valley either. It was never inhabited. So, what makes it famous? The lunar landscape!
Devrent Valley (also spelled as Dervent Valley) showcases many unique rock formations and is only a 10-minute drive from Goreme. The small fairy chimneys in the valley create a lunar landscape, or moonscape, with their unusual appearance. The valley also features many animal-shaped rocks, resembling a sculpture zoo crafted by nature. Some of the most prominent or easily recognizable animal shapes include camel, snake, seals, and dolphin. If you let your imagination run wild, you will discover many others. It’s like looking at clouds and seeing a dragon. There is even a rock pillar resembling the Virgin Mary holding Jesus Christ.
Cappadocia - At the end of the tour around 16:00-17:00, you will be transferred to your hotel in Cappadocia and have free time to relax.
Cappadocia Tour and Cappadocia to Istanbul Flight
Cappadocia - Note: This morning, you have the option to participate in a Hot Air Balloon Flight in Cappadocia from 05:00 to 06:00.
Pigeon Valley - Pigeon Valley (often misspelled as Ilhara Valley), near Mount Hasan and Mount Melendiz (two of Cappadocia’s three volcanoes), is a canyon with a depth of approximately 100m, formed by the Melendiz River thousands of years ago. It begins at Ihlara village and ends with Selime Monastery at Selime village.
Kaymakli Underground City - Kaymakli Underground City is built beneath the hill known as the Citadel of Kaymakli and was opened to visitors in 1964. The residents of Kaymakli (Enegup in Greek) village have constructed their homes around nearly one hundred tunnels of the underground city. The region’s inhabitants still use the most convenient areas in the tunnels as cellars, storage spaces, and stables, accessed through their courtyards. The Kaymakli Underground City features low, narrow, and sloping passages. While the underground city consists of 8 floors below ground, only 4 are open to the public today, with spaces organized around ventilation shafts.
Goreme Panorama - Offers the best view of Goreme Town and the volcano on clear days.
Kizilcukur - Kızılcukur, also known as Rose Valley due to the red hues of the rocks, is one of the best valleys for hiking in the area, even for 4 km. Kızılcukur was also used by Christians in the 5th century, allowing you to explore cave dwellings and ancient churches. The colors change according to the daylight, making it the perfect spot to watch the sunset.
Istanbul - The tour concludes around 17:30, and you will be transferred to the airport for your 20:30 flight to Istanbul.
Upon arrival at Istanbul airport, you will be picked up and transferred to Istanbul, where you will spend the night.
