Situated in the Ismailli region of Azerbaijan, on the southern slope of the Greater Caucasus, Lahij is part of the renowned tourist route known as “The Great Silk Way.” Historically and currently, Lahij holds the status of a trade and handicraft center. Visitors can discover unique, handmade copper utensils adorned with engraved oriental designs, as well as knitted and wicker items, wooden and leather crafts, souvenir knives, and much more. In the past, Lahij was referred to as “the city of forty crafts,” with each family engaged in a specific craft.

Lahij boasts an ancient sewage system, which some experts believe was constructed 1000–1500 years ago.
