A prominent tourist attraction in Pakistan, the mosque is a modern and significant example of Islamic architecture. Construction commenced in 1976, featuring eight-sided shell-shaped sloping roofs that form a triangular prayer hall accommodating 10,000 worshippers.
The entire structure spans 130,000 square meters; 1,400,000 square feet (33 acres), and it dominates Islamabad’s skyline. Faisal Mosque was the world’s largest mosque from 1986 until 1993 when it was surpassed by mosques in Saudi Arabia. It is currently the sixth-largest mosque worldwide in terms of capacity.
- Daman-e-Koh - Daman-e-Koh is a hilltop viewpoint located north of Islamabad, at the heart of the Margalla Hills. The name combines two Persian words “Dāman” meaning “skirt” and “Kōh” meaning “hill”, collectively referring to “foothills”. It stands about 2400 ft above sea level and approximately 500 ft above Islamabad. The area is a favored spot for both locals and tourists.

Managed by Lok Virsa - National Institute of Folk & Traditional Heritage, the museum opened in 1974 and became an autonomous institute in 2002 following the Lok Virsa Legal Status Ordinance, 2002.
