Join in for a captivating journey into the art of traditional Korean bookbinding, where participants will create a unique notebook using age-old methods. The session begins with the calming activity of folding specially chosen papers. Participants will select their favorite thread color and learn to fold and arrange 15 sheets between two sophisticated covers. Guidance will be provided through the traditional Korean binding technique, demonstrating how to make precise holes and secure the book with needle and thread.
The experience becomes even more meaningful as participants learn to write their name in Korean characters. After practicing their Korean name with a brush, they will create a stunning title piece to embellish the cover of their handmade notebook.
The completed creation will be ideal for documenting adventures in Seoul—a place to keep tickets, jot down travel memories, or sketch scenes from the journey. This handcrafted notebook, bound personally and adorned with a Korean name, will be a cherished keepsake of the time spent in Korea.
It’s more than just a notebook—it’s a piece of Korean craft tradition that encapsulates a personal story.

After retiring from banking, I discovered the arts of calligraphy and seal carving, which gradually transformed my life. My work has been recognized with prestigious awards at the Seoul Women’s Craft Exhibition and the KT Corporate Competition.
For the past 18 years, I’ve been teaching calligraphy at a women’s professional education institute supported by the Seoul Metropolitan Government. Since January 2018, I’ve had the privilege of introducing Hangul and Korean traditional culture to over 3,000 international visitors at my studio in Insadong. I also conduct traditional culture workshops for international corporations.
I published “The Strength of Calligraphy” in 2018 and “Hello World!” in 2024. This book is a collection of memories and experiences from seven years of becoming with wonderful guests from a stranger to a closer.
