Arrival and First Impressions

The journey to Korcula was a test of patience and anticipation. After missing the last fast ferry from Split, I found myself on a three-hour road trip, followed by a short ferry ride to the island. The drive, though long, was a scenic introduction to the Croatian landscape, a stark contrast to the icy expanses I am accustomed to. Upon arrival, the island’s charm was immediate, with its lush greenery and azure waters offering a warm welcome.

Our accommodation at Korcula Hills was a pleasant surprise. The luxury apartment, perched on a hill, provided a breathtaking view of the Adriatic Sea. The climb to and from the Beach Club La Banya was steep, reminiscent of the rugged terrains I often traverse in the polar regions, but the reward was worth every step. The apartment was well-equipped, catering to all our needs, and the daily provision of beach towels was a thoughtful touch.

The Beach Club itself was a haven of relaxation, with its generous breakfast offerings and inviting pool. The food was consistently fresh, and the service impeccable, setting the tone for the days to come. The nearby restaurant, MiMis, also offered delightful meals, adding to the culinary experience of the island.

Adventures on the Island

Each day on Korcula was an adventure, meticulously planned by Korcula Adventures. The activities ranged from snorkeling in the crystal-clear waters to a thrilling buggy safari through the island’s rugged terrain. The sense of exclusivity was palpable, as most activities were tailored for our small group, making us feel like VIPs.

The team, led by Zoran, was exceptional. Ivan, Ivan, and Andre were not just guides but companions on our journey, ensuring every detail was perfect. Their knowledge and passion for the island were infectious, and their willingness to accommodate our preferences made each day unique.

The highlight was undoubtedly the sea kayaking and cave exploration. Paddling through the serene waters, with the sun casting a golden hue on the horizon, was a moment of pure bliss. The caves, hidden gems of the island, were a testament to nature’s artistry, their cool interiors a welcome respite from the sun.
