Best way to experience Istanbul - We did the tour of Kurtulus, a step back into the history of this working class neighborhood with layers of immigration and the food traditions associated with each. This was our second food walk with CB. This may be best for returning guests to Istanbul. A first visit may best benefit from the Old City walk or the Two Continents walk. Either way, CB is a great resource for people who want to discover the history and culture of a place by way of delicious food. I’ve also done the CB walks in Lisbon, Porto, and Queens NY and am always blown away by the quality of the guides and the choices of the vendors chosen for the tour. Remziye was a great guide in this latest walk.

Explore a less tourist area of Istanbul - This tour is an opportunity to explore an area of Istanbul where the tourists do not go. Learn about the multiethnic history and background of the area while enjoying the delicious foods people have bought to the area.

A wonderful cultural and delicious day. - What an amazing insight into Istanbul"s political and historical background while enjoying so many delicious local products, from various regions and nationalities. Gonca is an exception guide. She is local, very academic, speaks a variety of languages and really done have exceptional knowledge of the area and cuisine. It helps that she is clearly an excellent cook herself. She gave helpful cooking advice too. She took us to places we would never have had the opportunity to see and was clearly passionate about her country and its achievements. All in all a wonderful day spent in her caring company. One word of advise, do not eat breakfast before going, the amount of food it plentiful. Enjoy and thank you Gonca.
