Golden Circle Small Group Tour - The Golden Circle small group tour was great. Everything we saw was worthwhile. The visit to the farm to see the horses and have lunch was terrific. The food was delicious. The Geyser, Gulfoss, and National Park was also very interesting. Monika was an excellent guide.

Don't miss Gullfoss! - Great tour! The highlights were the trip to the farm and to the waterfall, Gullfoss. The trip to the farm was educational, entertaining, and delicious. I could have wished the horse show and barn visit to have been longer, but other than that, it was perfect. The visit to the tomato greenhouse, with the explanation of how they grow tomatoes all year round, was fascinating. And the tomato soup is not to be missed. Gullfoss is amazing, and should not be missed on any trip to Iceland. Better than any waterfall I have ever seen, with the possible exception of Niagara Falls. Kerid Crater and Thingvellier National Park were also interesting. I found it a bit difficult to recognize the continental plates, because the bus didn't stop for the views (though it did stop later for the place where the first Parliament met). Kerid Crater is just a small-ish crater, notable for its red lava rock and pooled water.

It was a wonderful day... - It was a wonderful day trip of the golden circle. I also loved that it included a visit and time for lunch a the tomato greenhouse. That is a place that shouldn’t be missed when visiting the golden circle. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the area and gave us great advice on how to maximize our time at each stop. Even though there were 15 people or so in our group, we never felt like we were part of a large group. I’d recommend this day trip to anyone visiting the area.

Don't miss this small group tour! - This was the best tour of several we took. We highly recommend it. The small group tour has several advantages over the larger grouo, including a much nicer dining experience in a more quiet setting than the larger groups and a wonderful experience learning about and interacting with the Icelandic horses. Our guide Toni was terrific.

Our tour, led by Tony,... - Our tour, led by Tony, was terrific and a cut above the basic Golden Circle tour. We got to see all the Golden Circle classic stops (geysers, national park, and Gullfoss) but also got to spend time at the stunning (and highly photographable) Kerid Crater. We really enjoyed our lunchtime stop at the horse farm and tomato greenhouse as well. The horse show was brief but memorable (really interesting to see the 5 gaits of the Icelandic horse in action and learn more about the breed) and the greenhouse tour was informative. A highlight was lunch in a greenhouse setting -- try the tomato soup!

Cruisers pay ATTENTION - I rated this experience a one star because this is not and I repeat not an excursion for someone who is going to be back in Port at a certain time. I blame myself because I did not fully understand the excursion. I thought leaving at 9 AM given the time of the tour we would have been back in plenty of time. However, that was not the case after we were picked up on a bus and driven to a gas station to exchange buses for our experience, we started to question if we could get back on the tour on time. After finding out that we would not make it back on time we decided to abort our trip. With a 9 AM departure we would’ve had plenty of time to return back to our ship. Unfortunately, we didn’t get onto our next tour bus at the gas station until close to 10 AM. After speaking with the tour guide and bus driver, we realize that we would be way past our departure from Reykjavík. Not being a risk taker we decided to ask our driver the best course of action for getting back to the port to regroup and figure out our day. They graciously dropped us about a mile away from the port, which was a simple walk. I did contact the company about reimbursement and was told that if I come back within the next three years, they would grant us access to the tour again, which is probably not likely and at the same time sweet. Our initial point of contact was an employee with bus travel who was very not informative. Kind of elusive. When we got onto the actual bus, we were told that we weren’t on his specific cruise excursion. We were going to go to the meeting place where all the buses would put us on our proper bus to start our experience. This is like nothing I’ve ever experienced doing short excursions in the past.M At the end of the day, I feel we missed out on an amazing opportunity. Had it been explained in the website that this is not for cruisers. That probably would’ve been very helpful. This tour has a lot of amazing reviews. But this is one review from a tour cruiser who missed out on an opportunity and a refund. If you’re cruising do not book with this company, all of the Golden Circle tours are challenging if you have to be back on board by 5:30 due to distance.
