It was constructed in 1593 to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, featuring high-quality colorful mosaics from Persia. The Ashurkhana includes sites such as the Niyaz Khana (offering place), Naqaar Khana (drums place), Sarai Khana (rest area for devotees), Abdar Khana (drinking water place), Langar Khana (food serving place), Makan-e-Mujawer (Mujawer Residence), Daftar-e-Mujawer (Mujawer office), Alawa Chabutra, and Guardroom. The Ashur Khana still stands today with enamel tiles that have maintained their luster and vibrant colors even after four centuries. The intricate hexagonal design is exquisite.
It was built by Muhammed Quli Qutb Shah in 1594, three years after constructing the Charminar. The brilliantly colored tile-mosaic decoration was completed under Abdullah Qutab Shah in 1611. Following the Mughal conquest of Hyderabad, Aurangzeb, in a display of Sunni sectarianism, used the Ashurkhana as a horse stable for the Mughal cavalry.
