- Bidri Crafts - Bidriware is believed to have originated with the Bahamani sultans who governed Bidar during the 14th and 15th centuries. The techniques and style of Bidriware are influenced by Persian art. It was introduced to India by the esteemed Sufi Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chisti in the form of utensils. Abdullah bin Kaiser, an artisan from Iran, was invited by Sultan Ahmed Shah Bahmani to embellish the royal palaces and courts. Some accounts suggest that Kaiser collaborated with local craftsmen, leading to the development of Bidriware during the reign of Ahmed Shah and his son, Second Alauddin Bahmani. This art form was passed down through generations, spreading widely with the help of local artisans.
Bidri art is a type of damascene work known as “koftagiri,” which involves ornamentation by encrusting gold or silver onto iron objects. In ‘Bidri,’ metals such as silver, gold, or brass are overlaid or inlaid into designs to adorn objects made from an alloy of zinc and copper.

Laad Bazaar - The name “Laad” means lacquer, used to set artificial diamonds onto bangles. This is fitting, as this 1-kilometre (0.62 mi)-long shopping strip is home to many shops selling bangles, saris, wedding-related items, and imitation jewellery, as well as Attar perfumes.
This market has been operational since the era of the Qutab Shahi’s of Golconda and the Nizams of Hyderabad. It is located near landmarks such as Charminar and Makkah Masjid. Additionally, to the southeast of the bazaar are palaces built by various Nizams, including the Chowmahalla Palace. In Laad Bazaar, you will still find the Jealous Khana Gate, which was the original procession entrance to the Nizam’s palace. Choodi Bazaar is the main market for bangles, semi-precious stones, pearls, jewellery, silverware, Nirmal, Kalamkari paintings, Bidriware, lacquer bangles studded with stones, saris, and handwoven materials of silk, cotton, brocade, velvet, and gold-embroidered fabrics, traditional Khara Dupattas, and perfumes.
