On this exclusive exploratory jeep trip, we’ll make our way to þórsmörk from Hvolsvöllur, tackling numerous river crossings along the way. We’ll pause at gígjökull, taking in its splendour and observing the effects of the 2010 eruption on the region.
The journey will include a hike into stakkholtsgjá (canyon), followed by a visit to básar for a leisurely stroll. Our Þórsmörk expedition offers a thrilling day of river crossings, car rides and hikes in gorgeous scenery. However, should hiking not be your preference, we have the option to merely drive around and admire the surroundings.

Get away to explore "Hidden Iceland" - Highly recommend this tour with Fred. You might be tempted to DIY this type of trip but you will just end up trashing your rental car and having to pay for a new car when your insurance won't cover it. Instead book this tour with Fred - he will take you in his 4x4 off road vehicle across the rivers and into the valley where you will see fantastic views, get up close and personal to glaciers and waterfalls. The hiking can be as little or as much as you want. We opted to have Fred bring the lunch and enjoyed freshly grilled hamburgers. Best of all since Fred grew up in the area you can ask him about anything and everything about Iceland - politics, education, culture. Fred's stories about what it's like to grow up in Iceland are funny and interesting. We had a great day touring with Fred.
