While the temple was initially known as “Bir Amoun” meaning the Temple of Amun or Beit Amun, and during the era of the Middle Kingdom it was called Abet Sot, which means the most chosen of places (sometimes translated with the chosen spot) and this name was found on the walls of Senusret I’s cabin in Pilon the third. The temple was also known by many names, including Nisut-Toa, which means the Throne of the Two Countries, and Abit Isset, which is the most magnificent residence.
