Highlights
 • Huanghuacheng - In the morning, our staff will come to pick you up in your hotel lobby (or at your requested time before 3:00pm), then take you to Huanghuacheng Great Wall directly.

The Great Wall of China, one of the seven wonders in the world. Huanghuacheng is the only lakeside Great Wall in Beijing. It is one of the top destinations for a Great Wall hiking tour.

The Huanghuacheng Great Wall used to be one of the strongest wall in Beijing. It was built by General Cai in Ming Dynasty ( 1368-1644). Its construction took many years to accomplish. Some traitorous officials scolded that he had spent so much money in building the wall. The emperor was very angry with General Cai. Later he ordered General beheaded!

Years later, the emperor asked his ministers to check the wall and realized that he had treated General wrongly. The wall was extremely fortified. The emperor asked the craftman to carve two Chinese characters - “Jin Tang” by the wall, literally meaning “Gold Soup” - the firm and strong. The Huangcheng Great Wall is often called “Jintang Great Wall”. The lake by the wall is called Jintang Lake.

You will enjoy the hiking on the Wall and having the beautiful view of the Jintang Lake.

Awesome day - Fantastic day trip. I contacted Lily that one of the reviewers posted, and she replied promptly. Hey were very flexible as we have a 11 month old with us. Some amazing views, and next to no people... very private.

Best Section of the Great Wall - I've been to 3 different sections of the Great Wall, and the Huanghuacheng section is the best! Definitely worth at least a private driver. Our driver, Mr. Xie, was prompt and on time at our hotel and kept us updated on how long it was until our destination. We only hired a driver but he took us up to the wall to make sure we made it up there safely. He knew basic English and was able to hold small conversations and was able to answer all of our questions. I was able to hold longer conversations with him in Chinese (he was very patient with my Chinese, as I am currently learning the langauge). This section of the Wall was very quiet, oddly so since it was peak travelling season in China, but we didn't mind at all. Its not a hard hike at all. The views were absolutely stunning.

Wonderful Adventure! - Our guide Rocky and driver Mr Xie took us to an unrestored section of the Great Wall. Everything was perfectly organised and Rocky was very informative and knowledgable. This hike is perfect for the fit and adventurous. We learnt a lot about Chinese history as well as contemporary life in China during the hike. Please be aware that this section of the wall can be precarious in certain areas, but Rocky ensured that we were safe at all times. It may be difficult for those of advanced age or with low to moderate fitness abilities. We only met two other hikers in 4.5 hours on the wall. This is also a perfect place for stunning photos. Lunch afterwards was delicious and the drive back to our hotel in Beijingwas spent snoozing in the comfortable van. We would love to come back in Spring or earlier in Autumn to see the landscape in different colours. Would definitely take a tour with Lily's Tour Guides again.

This was the highlight of our... -
This was the highlight of our Beijing experience! Rocky was an unbelievable guide providing so much culture on our trip up, and sharing great insight on the wall. Our group of 7 only saw one other group on this section, which is exactly what we wanted! Very difficult to climb, but well worth the trek. The lunch at the local restaurant after walking the Great Wall was unbelievable! Rocky ordered for us and it one of the best meals we had over 14 days in China! Highly recommend this trip and Rocky as a guide!!

If you are scared of height, this... -
If you are scared of height, this will be a challenge but otherwise, this is one of the best things I did in China. The place is practically empty I saw 6 peoples over the course of 3 hours and the view is breathtaking. A bit of agility is needed and some cardio. This is a true hike. However said that children could go though.need to revisit that suggestion. Definitely worth the longer drive there. You will experience the Wall the way you imagine.

As for my driver, he was on time, knew enough English to get me there and communicate with me for the time back and was courteous.
