Unique experience! - Excellent, informative narrative accompanying the whale watching tour. Kudos to the commentator who blended scientific information with a strong conservationalist message in a highly effective manner. The breaching whale was unexpected, as was the quality of the commentary. Well done!

Beautiful Húsavik - We booked this tour a couple of days in advance as we saw the weather was good. We had a lovely afternoon on the water, we saw dolphins, flying puffins and at least 5 humpback whales. We saw the whales from quite a distance, the company was very respectful and did not try to get too close or hound the whales unlike the rib boats. Very good informative guide and nice warm hot chocolate on the way back. Our teens throughly enjoyed it as did the adults. Do the whale museam after, they give you a 20% discount voucher.

30 minutes with Shy Minke - The traditional boats are quite an experience and our captain and guide were quite engaging. Christian and Christian took us around the bay and what looked like a quiet outing, changed when a Minke decided to say hello. The boat floated around it for 30 minutes and we got a few more glimpses. All through the cruise, Christian kept us informed of the bay, the mountains, the sea and above all, the Whales. He even showed us a baleen and served hot Chocolate and Cinnamon rolls as refreshments. It was an education for the entire family. While the cruise offers an overall warm suit, it still does not protect from the arctic chill, therefore plenty of layers and gloves are recommended. Most Husavik excursions offer discounts at other businesses and North Sailing is no exception (which is handy and welcome)

Incredible whale watching trip in Húsavík - An incredible experience! When we booked our tickets the sales assistant explained if we didn’t see whales today we could join the tour for free tomorrow which was reassuring. The crew communicated brilliantly throughout the trip, balancing enough scientific information with mind boggling facts. We were very fortunate to see a blue whale fluke- no doubt due to the communication between local boats. The specialist gear we wore was of an excellent standard and the hot chocolate and cinnamon bun on the ride home were a tasty bonus. Would 100% recommend. Apparently our tickets get discounts in the whale museum and geothermal pool… an extra bonus!!

Didn't see any whales - We had a tour booked for the morning, which was canceled due to weather. They offered us a different tour in the afternoon, which we took, but didn't see any whales at all... 😔 The weather was still pretty bad and it was a rough sail. They were nice enough to offer another sail for free, since we didn't see any whales.. But we didn't stay in Húsavík long enough to use the tickets.

Whales and Sails was awesome - We did the 3 hour "Whales and Sails" tour on what is Iceland's oldest schooner and it was incredible. We watched the RIB tours and the more traditional whale watching vessels (we did a motorized tour 2 years ago) essentially chase after the whales, in effect, scaring them away. Well, our beautiful schooner sat and let the whales come to us, with the extremely quiet motor turning as needed. We saw many more whales on this tour than we did on the more traditional vessel. With a little patience (and the sun coming out didn't hurt, either), 3 humpbacks swam around us and put on quite the show. We were traveling with our friends and between us, we had 5 kids, ranging from 9 months to 9 years old. Perhaps except for the baby, everyone was entertained and comfortable. Tour guide, a young Spaniard marine biologist, was excellent, as were the captain and first mate.

Impressive whale watching experience in Husavik - We did our whale watching tour and loved it. We saw a humpback whale several times which was feeding in the waters here. It was such a beautiful feeling watching this incredible creature come up for air then dive down again. Loved it :)

Saw a whale! - Great experience and informed staff. 72 passengers were allowed. It was sometimes hard to get a spot to see, especially for the little ones…but that’s more due to rude adults. The suits provided kept me dry, but as everywhere in Iceland, layers are key. It got cold! We followed a whale and saw it surface surface times. They also serve hot cocoa and cinnamon rolls at the end of the tour.

Good trip, but whales did not cooperate - Maybe it was the weather which was very windy during our visit, one day the trips were cancelled, and during the second day we succeeded to get sailing and we saw one humpback whale from a distance in windy conditions. Several tourists experienced sea sickness (to be fair, we have been warned when made our booking) and even if our guide told us a lot about whales, birds and the area, we would probably not go again. We know that these trips depend on nature and nothing is guaranteed but still it had not met our expectations completely.

Very helpful staff who will treat you very fairly and honestly if there is a weather problem - Just wanted to post a brief but extremely positive review, because we arrived at the ticket office having booked but not sure whether to go because of the snow and mistiness and poor visibility. To their immense credit the lovely ticket office staff were very decent and honest, and they said the chances of seeing whales that day/hour were very low and the trip would be unpleasant and of course they would not charge (or we would be refunded). I thought that was very creditable because less honest companies could have sneakily sold us the tickets anyway or charged us anyway! In the end we did not go (so I can't comment on the whales sadly!) and were glad because their advice proved correct. So be assured you will get treated very fairly if there is a weather problem! Don't be afraid to book on that basis!
