- Miradouro de Nossa Senhora da Conceicao - At the Monument of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, you can admire the historic center of the city and the bay of Horta on one side, and Praia do Almoxarife on the other. Additionally, you can see the neighboring Pico Island and Portugal’s highest peak, Pico Mountain. On clear days, the islands of São Jorge and Graciosa are also visible. Truly, a spot with an exceptional view!
- Flamengos - On the way to Caldeira do Faial, the road offers excellent views of the entire parish of Flamengos. This is the only parish on the island without a surrounding sea, encircled instead by mountains and volcanoes.
- Caldeira - Situated in the island’s center, Caldeira is the true highlight of Faial. It is one of the largest volcanic craters in the Azores, which contributed to the island’s formation, measuring approximately 2000 meters in diameter, seven kilometers in perimeter, and 400 meters in depth.
- Capelinhos - A site of remarkable volcanic beauty, Capelinhos is a major tourist attraction in the Atlantic, particularly in the Azores. Its landscape evokes a lunar environment. Delight in the contrast of the gray sands with the green hills and the blue sky and sea.
- Porto do Comprido - Visit the Natural Pools of Porto do Comprido. These pools were formed by basaltic rocks, created from the solidification of incandescent lava in the sea.

Best tour guide with an insight for the island like no one we ever meet - A Whirlwind Visit to Beautiful Faial — Unforgettable Thanks to Trilhos Travel!”
Our planned 2½-day stay on Faial turned into just 16 whirlwind hours, but what an incredible experience it was! I’ll definitely be back 🥰 to spend more time exploring this stunning island.
We started at the Horta Marina, a vibrant and colorful place where sailors from all over the world leave their painted marks on the harbor walls — such a unique sight! Of course, we couldn’t miss the famous Peter Café Sport, a true landmark in Horta.
Then came the highlight of our visit — a private island tour with Ramos from Trilhos Travel. He was absolutely the best guide we could have asked for: knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about sharing Faial’s beauty and history.
With the weather on our side, we enjoyed some of the island’s best viewpoints, each more breathtaking than the last. The Capelinhos Volcano was unforgettable — a powerful reminder of the 1957–1958 eruption where homes were buried, but thankfully no lives were lost. We also visited Ribeirinha village, a quiet and moving testament to the 1998 earthquake.
Everywhere we went, the scenery was stunning — volcanic landscapes, lush green hills, and endless ocean views. Even in such a short time, Faial completely captured our hearts.
A huge thank you to Ramos and Trilhos Travel for making our brief visit so special. Highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Faial — you’ll see and learn so much in just a few hours! 🌋💙

Nice tour with nice guide - We were lucky that the other participants cancelled and we were allowed to enjoy a private tour of Faial. The tour was very nice about the main spots of the island with its breathtaking nature. Ramiro was a very nice guide who knew something about every point of the island and about life in the Azores. We would book the tour again anytime.

Beautiful Faial - We had a wonderful few hours touring the lovely island of Faial with Ramiro. He took us to all the highlights and answered every question with ease. As a native of Faial, Ramiro offered unique insights throughout the tour. The town was charming, but the real highlight was witnessing the incredible aftermath of a volcanic eruption from 67 years ago. Highly recommended.

Beautiful with many highlights - We experienced a wonderful day on the island of Faial. We were picked up on time by the friendly Ramiro. He showed us the highlights worth seeing and told us a lot about the country and people.
Very likeable and overall a round thing, it was a pleasure, we can recommend without hesitation.

Such a great day in Faial! - We had such a wonderful day in Faial with Ramiro! Even though we only had a short day coming from Pico, we felt like we saw so much and got the best experience from a real local. The views were absolutely incredible, and definitely worth the short ferry ride from Pico!

Great tour! - Wonderful experience! Ramiro is an amazing local guide with great stories and welcoming personality. He masterfully timed the tour to show the island with beautiful sites and pointed out hidden treasures. Ramiro is a local, and it was obvious he was incredibly proud (and rightfully so!) of the island and its heritage. He was flexible with scheduling, as the originally planned time did not work out, so we basically ended up on a private tour. The stops were well-timed to see and explore. Highly recommend this amazing experience!
