Shepperd’s Dell Falls - Shepperd’s Dell Falls is a quick and worthwhile stop. It requires just a tenth-of-a-mile stroll next to a beautiful old bridge from 1914 to view this double-decker waterfall.

Bridal Veil Falls State Park - Bridal Veil Falls is next on the waterfall tour and is a favorite among a strong selection. This powerful, two-tiered cascade tumbles 120 feet over mossy rocks. Viewing it requires a moderate, 2/3-mile hike.

Angels Rest - Approaching a classic Oregon hike called Angel’s Rest. This hike is a workout, climbing 1,500 feet over 2.4 miles to a stunning bluff overlook. From there, views of Beacon Rock, Silver Star Mountain, and Portland can be seen.

Hood River - Downtown Hood River is perfect for strolling and exploring its many boutique shops, art galleries, restaurants, wineries, and breweries. The History Museum of Hood River County offers exhibits on human history from Indigenous cultures to settlers, loggers, and Japanese Americans, especially as an activity if the weather isn’t great.

Full Sail Brewing Company - In Hood River, both exploration and relaxation can be combined. If it’s the right time of day, a stop at Full Sail Brewing might be enjoyable. This brewery opened in a former fruit canning factory in 1987, making it one of Oregon’s first microbreweries.

Cloud Cap Inn - The Cloud Cap Inn was built at about 6,000 feet on the mountain’s northeastern side. It was the first permanent resort on Mt. Hood, opening in 1889. The inn featured handsome stone-and-timber construction, fine dining, beds for 30 guests, and eventually, even flush toilets!

Elk Meadows - Starting from the Elk Meadows trailhead, take the Elk Meadows Trail to connect to Newton Creek Trail and then a section of the famous Timberline Trail.

Devils Kitchen - The Devils Kitchen is located under the popular routes that mountaineers take when climbing Mt. Hood, so anyone who slips and falls along those trails could end up in a fumarole.

Trillium Lake - Follow the sign marked 26 West for Portland. Keep in the lane that exits off to the right shortly ahead.
Not long after this large merging of highways, the turn-off for one of Portland’s favorite weekend getaways, Trillium Lake, will be seen.
- Timberline Lodge - Timberline Lodge is a National Historic Landmark, known for its stylized architecture. Completed in 1937, it’s a prime example of Cascadian architecture.
- Mirror Lake - The hike to Mirror Lake offers a gorgeous view of Mt. Hood. For those interested in geology or beautiful scenery, this is a glacial cirque lake, meaning it sits in an amphitheater-shaped basin carved by glaciers.
- Silent Rock - Some stories suggest a trucker had a terrible accident at Silent Rock, and it’s been cursed ever since. Others trace it back to a construction accident or even Native tribes throwing their enemies off the mountain here.
- Ramona Falls - Ramona Falls is a standout on this tour, which features many great waterfalls. Ramona Falls is a 120-foot-tall waterfall that flows over a black cliff of volcanic columnar basalt.
