Yuanyang Rice Terraces - Meet the private guide in the hotel’s lobby in Kunming and head directly to Yuanyang Rice Terraces, a journey of approximately 5.5 hours. Relax and enjoy the scenic views along the way.

Yuanyang is famous for its rice terraces, considered the world’s largest and most magnificent, crafted by the Hani people over a thousand years ago and still in use today. The rice farmers practiced ecology and land preservation long before these concepts were globally recognized. Currently known as ‘land sculpture,’ these terraced fields have been officially recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural and Natural Heritage site.

Bada Terrace - Upon arrival, choose the sites that interest you most and begin exploring. Typically, the tour starts from Qingkou Village. Qingkou Hani Village is a key area for the World Culture Heritage Site designation. It maintains a complete ecosystem of four elements: forests, water systems, mountain villages, and terraces. Follow the tour guide to explore their Mushroom House and learn about the Hani people’s folk customs, which feature a distinctive national culture, unique production, and lifestyle.

Spend the rest of the day at Bada Terrace, the largest attraction in terms of acreage in Yuanyang Terraces and renowned for its stunning sunset views.

Afterwards, you will be transferred to your hotel in Yuanyang.

Yuanyang-Jianshui (B, L)

Duoyishu - Meet the tour guide early in the morning and head to Duoyishu Village to enjoy the spectacular sunrise.

Double Dragons Bridge - After lunch, head to Jianshui. Relax during the 3-hour ride. Upon arrival, visit Double Dragon Bridge.

Double Dragons Bridge was first constructed in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and now features 17 arches and 3 pavilions. It is the largest ancient multiple arch bridge with the highest artistic value, combining the main characteristics of Chinese bridges with formative arts. It showcases the exceptional skill and wisdom of the local people living in southern Yunnan.

Jianshui-Kunming (B, L)

Jianshui Ancient City - Meet the tour guide in the hotel lobby and start the day with a walking tour of Jianshui Ancient City.

Built during the Tang Dynasty (618-907), Jianshui is renowned for its grain and sugarcane and is a fascinating place with a mix of central plains and border cultures. With over 100 ancient temples, 50 ancient bridges, and 56 state-protected cultural relics, Jianshui is known as “the Museum of Ancient Constructions,” highlighting ancient Chinese culture and art.

Jianshui Confucius Temple - Spend some time visiting Jianshui Confucius Temple. With a history of over 600 years, it is the third largest Confucius temple after those in Qufu and Beijing. Stroll around the halls and courtyards with the tour guide, learn about the symbolic significance of the architecture, and visit memorial archways, pavilions, palaces, and memorial temples. Discover Confucius’ life experiences and many other historical and cultural items related to Confucius and his culture.

Zhu’s Family Garden (Zhu Jia Huayuan) - Continue to Zhu’s Family Garden. Jianshui Zhu Family Garden is a large-scale residential complex from the Qing Dynasty, known as the “Grand View Garden at Southwest Border of China.” It features about 42 small or large courtyards and 214 rooms. Stroll around the halls and gardens, enjoying its steep ridge eaves, painted beams, and intricate painted ceilings, which are exquisite and elegant.

Jianshui County - The last stop is Chaoyang Gate Arch. Built in 1389, the Chaoyang Gate Arch symbolizes this ancient military town on the southeast border and is an emblem of Jianshui, a historic and cultural city. It serves as a public cultural center of Jianshui County.

After lunch at a local restaurant, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Kunming.
