Seabird Ventures Homer, Alaska - Captain owner, Davy, gave us the seabird tour of a lifetime in bays and small islands in Kachemak Bay where Homer is located. He showed us rocky islets covered by hundreds of Surf Birds with two Hudsonian Godwits and a couple Black Turnstones hanging out in the crowd. It was an amazing spectacle! Next a Wandering Tattler, Common Loons, Red-necked and horned Grebes, Harlequin Ducks, Common Goldeneye ducks, Pelagic Cormorants, Pigeon Guillemots. Many sea otters. Most fantastic was an Eagle who had caught a salmon and holding it in his talons was swimming it a hundred yards to a rocky outcrop where he managed to fly it up to a low perch, continue it to a higher one, finally able to fly it higher yet where it looked like he was biting into it. I assume he would try to carry it off to a nest where he had a mate and perhaps eaglets to feed. He swam with his wings using a butterfly stroke. Both wings worked together, sweeping back then lifting out of the water and moving forward to sweep back through the water again. We were all holding our breath for the eagle. He made it! The boat tour took us to Jackalov Bay and back to Homer. We were nonplussed by the number of birds we saw. It was a terrific Alaskan experience! Davy was an outstanding bird spotter, and he knew what the birds were and where to find them.

Lots of wildlife - Super friendly crew, for the price it is well worth it. I think that is a good thing because a lot more people are able to do this than say, the bear viewing tours which are expensive. We saw sea otters, birds and a humpback whale.

Great morning on the water with a great guide. - We done a short trip and received more information on the local birds than I could take in. Very good guide and excellent boat handling. Will go again.

Pleasant substitute trip - The ship was not fancy at all, but the young couple owners were very pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable. Made the experience very enjoyable. We had not booked this excursion until our fishing trip the day prior had gotten "weathered" out and we were not able to rebook it. We were glad that we decided to add this to our itinerary at the last minute. Learned a lot.

Nice 2 hour trip into... - Nice 2 hour trip into Kachemak Bay. Guide explained different birds and animals and their habitats. Saw bald eagle, sea otters, sea lion, various marine birds, etc. Beautiful day and beautiful mountains all around the bay. Price was right and guide and captain were great. Boat is older but did the job. Use restroom before you go. One on boat is old.

Not as described - This is a bird watching tour. The tour description was possible “otters, whales, and puffins.” You should have said “a variety of birds with the slight possibility of whales and other sea life.”
