Food, farm, fun and yum! - Best day, authentic, fun and delicious! Alice was our amazing guide, helping us create very impressive results. She is also great fun and engaged with each of us. Rookie mistake, we had breakfast prior to pick up. Don’t, there is so much food. Recommend this day unreservedly.

Cooking Class - Tan and Sue run a very professional cooking school. Their English is excellent. They grow most things on the farm and the oyster mushroom compound was very interesting. As I have attended many cooking classes in Vietnam Tan and Sue created a entirely different menu for me to learn. 9 courses in all. Loved all the courses. Too much food to consume so they can arrange for you to take away. Transportation was included in the cost with recipes to take home, certificate of completion along with a t shirt to take home. Out of all the cooking classes I have attended in Vietnam I thought this one was the best. Highly recommend it.

Thank you for a great day! - My day with the HCM cooking class was wonderful! I’m traveling solo at the moment, so I happened to get a private trip by surprise since no one else had booked that day. My guide Dante was so knowledgeable, o really learned a lot! It was great to see the rice paper factory and stop by the farm to see the the pigs and cows. I really liked learning about the different herbs here and ways they can be used in dishes, their health benefits, and ways they can be used as medicine. I got to make four different dishes and was definitely full by the end! It was great to learn the basics and I’m excited to recreate them myself at home, which is easy since they include the recipes for the dishes you make. Since I was alone, I also got to add on a trip to the Cu Chi tunnels which was really interesting to see. Plus, it was great that Dante took photos throughout the day so I had a bunch at the end! (That’s always the hard part with being a solo traveler). Thank you to Dante for being such an amazing guide!

A fantastically memorable day t - I did a full-day cooking course earlier this week. I found the class through TripAdvisor reviews and it seemed to offer what I was looking for - the option of a full-day of cooking. I emailed the school and the response was prompt and helpful. I was encouraged to choose 8 savoury dishes and 1 dessert from a truly impressively long (and comprensive) list of Vietnamese dishes. On the day, my car pick-up at the hotel was prompt, clean and friendly. It is a 1 hour drive out of HCM, but the sights of the bustling city are so interesting that it doesn't feel that long. My "chef" for the day was Xuyen (Sue), who was very good, patient and well-informed. She took me round the "farm", where she explained the different plants which are grown there, and had me pick the herbs we would be using later on (so so fresh!). I loved seeing the mushroom "shed". And then we started cooking! A lot of thought had gone into sequencing the dishes, as we would prepare a marinade for one dish and carry on with another. As other reviewers have noted, the method here is to have students do most of their own prepping. Very few ingredients come prepped from the kitchen (rice cooked, onions peeled, garlic and chili already minced, and obviously meat and fish). This means that you get a real feel for the food and proportions. Xuyen also went through variations for some of the dishes, which is very important when feeding a fussy family! At the end of the day, I couldn't eat another mouthful, but left with many recipes and happy memories.
