After a few hours, arrive at the first stop for a guided tour of the ancient “Diocletianopolis.” This town remains an active spa resort with well-preserved Roman ruins, where lunch will be served.
Plovdiv Old Town - The final destination is Plovdiv, the cultural capital of Europe for 2019, where an overnight stay is planned. After checking into the hotel, enjoy a guided walking tour of the historical section of one of Europe’s oldest cities. The cobblestone streets preserve heritage from all eras. Key highlights include Revival period mansions, the Roman Theater, an early 20th-century pharmacy, Medieval remains and fortifications, the Roman stadium, a beautiful 14th-century mosque, and more. For the evening, “The Trap” area is recommended, filled with bars, restaurants, and craft shops.

Trigrad Gorge
Bachkovo Monastery - After breakfast, continue southward. Visit a Medieval fortress atop a cliff, offering a splendid view of the area, followed by the second-largest monastery in Bulgaria – Bachkovo Monastery. Established in the 11th century by Georgians, it was closely linked to the Byzantine Empire’s power. This site is also significant for Bulgaria’s Jewish community history, as key figures responsible for their rescue during World War II are buried here.
Trigrad - After guided visits, head towards Trigrad, located in the heart of the Rhodope mountains. Travel through stunning mountain roads and gorges. Overnight stay in Trigrad, enjoying local cuisine and traditions.

Reaching Greece
Kavala - After breakfast, continue towards Greece on scenic mountain roads, avoiding highways for a more enjoyable experience. Pass through numerous Greek villages, with the final destination being the city of Kavala. It features a seaside fortress and one of the best-preserved Roman aqueducts. Overnight stay in the town, with a delightful dinner at the marina.

Thessaloniki
Museum of the Royal Tombs of Aigai (Vergina) - In the morning, head west to visit the tomb of Philip II, father of Alexander the Great. The tomb is near Pela, the capital of the Macedonian dynasty, and part of a large ancient necropolis. Enjoy a guided tour of this historical site.
Thessaloniki - Following this, proceed to Thessaloniki, Greece’s second-largest city. Check into the hotel, leave the bikes, and explore the city center. Highlights include The White Tower, Roman baths, the Roman arch, the Medieval town, and a large, rich archaeological museum.
Note: Thessaloniki is renowned for its vibrant nightlife.

Ohrid-North Macedonia
Ohrid - After breakfast, embark on a journey to North Macedonia, heading to the country’s most beautiful area - Lake Ohrid. Enjoy the stunning natural scenery along the way. The day’s final destination is the city of Ohrid, a historically significant city for both Bulgarians and Macedonians. It is where the Cyrillic script was invented in the 10th century. Discover more about its historical periods and events while exploring the city’s historical section and savoring traditional cuisine.

Kosovo
Prizren - In the morning, set off for the next country on the itinerary - Kosovo. This territory remains a point of contention between Serbia and the Albanian population, a dramatic consequence of Yugoslavia’s collapse. Travel through a picturesque mountain road to reach Prizren, the second-largest city, yet historically the most significant and beautiful. It takes about 2 hours to reach Prizren. Leave the bikes and begin a historical walk, visiting the city’s fortress for a breathtaking view of the region. Stroll through cobblestone streets with Ottoman-era buildings and charming authentic bazaars.

Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia
Matka Canyon - After breakfast, return to North Macedonia, heading to its capital, Skopje. Before arriving, stop at one of Europe’s most beautiful natural parks – Matka. Spend some time there, and if desired, rent a small boat to enjoy the natural surroundings. Visit a stunning cave deep within the canyon and some medieval Bulgarian monasteries.
Skopje - After a half-hour ride, arrive in Skopje, the capital of Macedonia. During a guided city tour, explore one of the Balkan Peninsula’s most unique cities. Skopje is a blend of authentic Ottoman monuments and new neo-classical buildings, complete with ornate columns and rooftop nymph figures.
Following the “Skopje 2014” project, the city’s new center has become a popular destination in Eastern Europe. Despite mixed opinions on its new look, Skopje is undoubtedly a must-see. In the afternoon, relax and enjoy the city’s atmosphere.

Returning to Sofia
Monastery of St Joakim Osogovski - This marks the final day of the guided tour. In the morning, begin the return journey to Sofia. En route, stop at one of Macedonia’s UNESCO sites – the Osogovo Monastery, the largest in the country. It remains active, with monks still residing there. The monastery’s history dates back to the 12th century. Enjoy a guided tour of the complex. If hungry afterward, there are excellent restaurants in the vicinity.
Sofia - Afterward, continue to Sofia. Return the rented bikes and check into the hotel (if the flight is on the same day, a direct airport transfer is provided. If departing the next day, airport transfer is also included).
