Great spring getaway - Beautiful, mostly quiet beaches. I’m sure it’s much wilder in the summer. You can definitely ride a bicycle on the beach at low tide. Will very likely return next spring

Very informative - Very nice tour. It started inside the museum and was very informative. Next we went out side on the pier and saw the marsh close up and learned some things about the ecosystems.

Gullah bus tour - Excellent! - The Gullah bus tour with Emory was excellent! We’ve been visiting Hilton Head for years and finally had time to learn about the history of the island. He helped us envision what HHI looked like as he was growing up there. Told us stories of the farmers and families that lived there, and some still do. Great way to learn about HHI before tourism took over. Highly recommend!

Loved The Tour - My husband and I took the tour and it exceeded our expectations. Ken, our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and we learned so much. We enjoyed the casual pace and Ken’s easygoing conversational manner. We will recommend to our friends who will be visiting Hilton Head in the near future!

Required stop..start here first - Amazing history even richer than anticipated. Katie shared in great detail the history of Hilton Head, walked us around part of the grounds sharing stories that wet our appetite for more. We will be back. This is a require stop for future visits.

Nice intro to Hilton Head - We had limited time on Hilton Head between overnight stays in Beaufort SC and Savannah GA. Decided to visit the Coastal Discovery Museum for an overview of life in Hilton Head and we signed up for the Honey Horn guided tour. Our volunteer docent was Ken. Overall, this was a good experience; the museum has some great exhibits (including a temporary art exhibit on coral) and the grounds are large and diverse. Ken was knowledgeable. However, our 60-minute tour turned into a 2-hour tour thanks to a larger-than-expected crowd (while we signed up weeks in advance, others were able to join at the very last minute even though the tour had technically already reached capacity). In the end, I'm not sure we learned anything via the guided tour that was different from a self-guided tour, and it certainly took longer. I would recommend looking at some of the other tours if you'll be in the area; the Gullah tour in particular sounded intriguing. And definitely see the grounds, but there's plenty of signage if you want to do it on your own. Also I REALLY wish they had a small cafe on-site for lunch...even just some minimal take-out (salads, sandwiches). That would have been a great way to end our tour, and a good way for this site to make some additional $$ as well!
