Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic - Nestled in the heart of Sri Lanka’s Central Highlands, Kandy City emerges as a central point on the island. Royal Botanical Gardens - Originating from the era of the Kandyan kingdom, these Gardens were initially the royal family’s private retreat. It was after the British conquest of the Kandyan Kingdom that they were formally established in 1821. Spanning over 150 hectares of gracefully contoured land, the Gardens are a horticultural masterpiece. Enclosed by the sinuous path of the Mahaweli Ganga, they boast an impressive collection of over 400 varieties of native tropical plants and foreign botanical specimens.
