A four-day trip to Surabaya - During my holiday in Java (Indonesia) I made a four-day trip from Yogyakarta to Surabaya. The train journey took over four hours and can be experienced in varying degrees of comfort. I thought it would be fun to travel super luxury in a wagon where only 18 people were transported. Lunch and dinner were included and by the 2 stewards you were served at your beck and call. At the station I was met by my guide and travel companion, Ivan. After dropping off my luggage at the Majapahit Hotel (where I stayed during these days), Ivan took me to a cozy night market to experience the lively atmosphere and local delicacies. Over the next few days Ivan accompanied me on trips to the Arab Quarter, the Dutch Cemetery of Honour (Karel Doorman) and a museum that offered a wealth of information and visual material, particularly focusing on the period of the transition from the Dutch East Indies to an independent Indonesia. Ivan shared many stories and had a great interest in history himself. We visited a Russian submarine from the 1950s, which we could see inside. On one of the last days we also visited the Bank of Java, where today a museum is located with old banking equipment. In these days Ivan proved to be an enthusiastic narrator, and he even invited me to his house to meet his family. I was warmly and warmly received. In just a few days I had a new friend! Staying at the former Orange Hotel, now the Majapahit, was an experience in itself. The hotel still exudes a colonial atmosphere. I can warmly recommend a stay there. In short, the days flew by and before I knew it, it was time to say goodbye to Surabaya and the wonderful guide Ivan. Goodbye!

Journey to Paradise Cave — A Hidden Wonder in Vietnam - Paradise Cave is absolutely stunning — photos don’t do it justice! The tour was well-organized, and the guide gave helpful background on Vietnam’s history along the way, which made the whole experience more meaningful. The only small downside was the long drive, but the scenery helped pass the time. If you're in Central Vietnam, this is definitely a must-do!

Tiring - Phong na is a pretty cave This light version is too tiring. Travel time too long compared to the visit time itself. Driver coughing and spitting all the way not very nice we were just behind. On the return small pose in front of a department store without interest or the seller sticks to you. So it's impossible to catch a pack of cake.
