Highlights
  • Eastnor Pottery & The Flying Potter - Potter’s wheel experience

Please allow 1.5hrs for your visit.

On arrival you’ll be offered a warm welcome from either Jon or his wife and fellow maker Sarah.

Following an easy to follow, step by step demonstration, you will share a wheel between two, having two goes each. You’ll then be offered one of three choices:

  1. The ‘green’ option. We’ll recycle your attempts so your clay can be enjoyed again and again by our lovely customers.

  2. Select your favourite pot to take away, air-dry and paint at home.

  3. For an additional 20 per pot we’ll fire and glaze your creation. If you go for option 3, your masterpiece will need to dry thoroughly before it goes in the kiln. It will be fired twice. This whole process takes about a month, after which we’ll contact you to let you know it’s ready for collection from the Pottery. P+P can be arranged at 5 per item.

What's Included
  • Clay and hand tools provided
What's Not Included
  • Please bring an apron and a hand/tea towel for drying hands at the wheel

Really good experience - Really well organised introduction to using a wheel, highly recommended, no hesitation in recommending Sarah and Jon have been doing this for years and know exactly when to step in and when to leave you to it

Pottery experience - An absolutely amazing experience. We not only had fun but learnt a great skill. The team are welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable, always there to give a hand when it doesn't go as planned. We would love to go back for more. My husband has arthritis and was worried that he wouldn't be able to do it but it wasn't a problem and was actually very therapeutic. I would recommend this for a day out to anyone no matter age or ability. 5 stars

Good wholesome messy fun but…. - … don’t assume it’s going to be easy. Sarah met us and gave an explanation as to what we needed to do. Then the fun began. We each had two turns at throwing a piece. It’s hard not to get complacent when your first piece goes well, your second will as well. Nope! Don’t assume. Really good fun. And the chance to bring your piece home to show off just adds to it. Thoroughly recommend this.

Brilliant - I had a great time! I was a bit nervous going on my own, but was made to feel very welcome straightaway. I learnt a lot and can't wait to do it again!

Pottery - First time trying pottery on the wheel, something I've always wanted to try. My partner bought the experience as an anniversary present. We had the best day, Jon and Sarah were brilliant, so welcoming and excellent teachers. ( Both very talented potters) would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to try. Hoping we will be back soon for more. Thank you so much.

Fabulous experience. Highly recommended - We had a fantastic time learning how to use the potters wheel. It was so much fun. Sarah was absolutely delightful and a brilliant teacher. We successfully made a pot each to take home. If you have ever wanted to try this, then don't hesitate to book here. You will not be disappointed!!

Driving us potty- great laugh ! - Mmm..a gift experience voucher for the Potter's Wheel- not sure about this...- how wrong can we be! Staff were warm and welcoming as was the set up in the room - 2 people sharing a wheel . Informative and interesting demo first with humour thrown in and then we were let loose but help there when needed- and we did! Despite our best efforts at sabotage, Jon & Sarah were there to stop the wobble with their great admirable skill , leaving us all with a pot or two to be proud of ( or not) to take home or to leave to be glazed and fired .. Oh but beware!! - the finger in the hole as Jon pointed out is sooo addictive and you will never look at a chocolate rolo in the same way again lol 😂 Thanks so much to Jon & Sarah for a lovely few hours of fun Very enjoyable Highly recommended

Worth every penny - I want to do more now! - I booked for my mum and I to go on this course, and although we were looking forward to it, it was even better than I anticipated. Jon and Sarah were fun and supportive, instinctively giving each person the right amount of help that they wanted/needed. I had expected there to be a lot of watching, and less doing, but we were straight into pottery and got chance to try a lot of throwing. I think I managed to produce about 12 items to choose from throughout the day. Really loved that you can choose which pieces you wish to keep, and they fire, glaze and post them to you as well. By the end of the day, the group were all interacting and chatting with each other too. It was theraputic, relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable.
