“Not only motor enthusiasts consider this place “holy ground.” The first automobile ever was made here by Carl Benz, the famous German inventor. His Austrian friend’s daughter “Mercedes” gave her name to one of the most prestigious car series on earth. See more than 120 historic cars, including many rarities and world sensations like the first motor car ever. OPEN ONLY WEDNESDAY, SATURDAY, AND SUNDAY. On all other days, we make an outside stop only and then go to historic Ladenburg instead.
Schwetzingen Palace - This romantic summer residence of the “Kurfürsten” (rulers of the state) is world-famous for its beautiful gardens. Come enjoy a stroll through time…NOT AVAILABLE DEC. 1st TO MARCH 31st. In December, we go to historic Ladenburg instead.

On this private full day Tour, you will enjoy the 3 most important tourist attractions in the “Kurpfalz” region in just 1 day.

Besides magnificent Heidelberg with its romantic castle and beautiful baroque old town you will see the birthplace of the automobile, the first Mercedes Benz factory and museum (if open - otherwise we stop in the picturesque middle age village of Ladenburg), plus world famous Schwetzingen palace gardens (May to Oct.).

In an easy and entertaining manner, you will learn a lot about the area’s history and spectacular sights. Lunch break (not included) will be in a typical, cozy German restaurant, offering local specialties as well as international or vegetarian cuisine.

During the car ride your guide will supply lots of interesting information about Germany in general and give you helpful advice for the continuation of your vacation.

Your guide will be fluent in German and English also speaks “easy English” for guests who don´t speak English very well.

Exceptional experience - Michael was a fantastic tour guide! He is very knowledgeable about the history of the city. He Has exceptional stories about the region he tours. He is a world traveler and great storyteller. You will enjoy authentic German cuisine while he explains the nuances of eating in a traditional German restaurant. It was a great day!

Beautiful places to see - Mike is very knowledgeable and trio was well organized. However we did feel a little rushed trying to cover the Heidelberg castle, town, bridge, Karl Benz museum (which was closed on that day) and Ladenburg/garden all in 8 hours. It is probably better to do just a Heidelberg tour, walk around the town, relax and do some shopping and enjoy the atmosphere.

Wonderful, Entertaining Day - Our trip from Frankfurt to Heidelberg was quite a treat! The scenery on the way there was beautiful! The castle ruins were fun to learn about. Lunch at an authentic German restaurant was delicious! And the Benz Museum, open on the Saturday we booked, had an extensive display of beautifully restored antique cars and not just Mercedes. Maik makes the trip informative and entertaining! It’s obvious that he enjoys his work! It’s very convenient and stress-free to be picked up from the hotel and then dropped back off at the end of the day!

Fantastic...highly recommend! - Tour guide Michael Maus made it all possible starting with pickup at the airport, fabulous tour and drop off at my hotel. Michael (Maik) was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and the local customs and culture. He had good answers and perspective on my many history and political questions to give me a better understanding of the area. He has lived many years in the area and his personal experiences made sightseeing authentic! Thanks Maik!

Excellent tour - Mike was an excellent tour guide & driver. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour of Heidelberg Palace, Christmas Market & an authentic German lunch in a very charming restaurant. Since Mercedes Museum was closed on Thursdays, he took us to the Mannheim Christmas market which was, as he promised, so much better than Heidelberg. We learned so much from him & appreciated all his knowledge. It was a long day but a perfect tour. Mike is a nice, personable guy!

An enchanting town - Maik, our guide was wonderful and this was such a fantastic tour to start our trip to Germany with! Maik was so knowledgeable about Heidelberg but also all places in Germany. We learned so much and he had an answer for every one of our questions. The Heidelberg castle/palace is such a great story and the guide for that portion of the tour did a great job and was quite funny. The small tram ride up was so special and lunch was great! The small town of Heidelberg is so enchanting and since the Mercedes Museum was closed we got to see another small town and enjoy a sweet treat. Overall great experience and would recommend the tour and Maik to anyone!
